wow, this was special - amazing work to all involved. the attention to detail was superb and the interface (both UI and UX) a joy to engage with. unfortunately my brain could not figure out the meat of the story so i was stuck letting eve down, who subsequently shut me down. sudo nano config.ini
Thank you very much for your kind words! We are very glad that you liked the attention to detail and the interface.
You can try to wait for a few more letters to continue the story. We hope you enjoy playing!
this was a really cool game! i liked the little details, like the additional commands hidden in the emails. i did get a bit stuck on my first playthrough since i didn't realize you needed to put in the file extensions at first. this has a great premise and is fun to play!
=== SPOILERS FROM HERE DOWN ===
after spending too long poking around the first time, i tried to get to the story faster in subsequent games.
in my second playthrough i found out about the off command and the password (btw "help" didn't show the explanation for how to use it at first?). in my fourth playthough, i realized there were subsequent emails with the rest of the password (for some reason in the first email read "last name" as "last part" and though the ellipsis meant "dot" haha -- so i kept trying to put in "webbdotweb" and "webbdotnet" and "webdotweb" etc. oops!)
after i finally saw the last two emails, i realized i had seen (what i assume is) the favourite song in the log (after_midnight.mp3) and i went back to system to find the OS number (which i think is 1.03?).
then i spent three more playthroughs trying to check everything over as i put in variations of "webb1.03aftermidnight" or "webb1.03after_midnight.mp3" or "webb103after_midnight" etc.
i really don't know what i missed! if you could please let me know, i'd love to see the other ending.
Thank you very much for your detailed feedback, zorkie! You are very close to the solution!
It seems that we have worded the description of this part of the password incorrectly. In fact, we meant the process number in the system, not the OS version. So you should check the system processes, maybe you will find what you are looking for there!
You are almost there! If you have any more questions, do not hesitate to contact us!
i got it! thank you :)
I love this idea (and the music) but this game wasn't the most accessible to me. I think it's a me issue though—I don't have a lot of command line (is that what it's called?) experience so the commands were confusing—though I did figure it out for the most part. For some reason I found physically reading the text to be difficult. Is blurry for everyone? Is that on purpose?
Is it my screen? Is it my eyeballs? Anyway, I'm sure this is a pretty rad game, I just couldn't get into it, which is a skill issue on my end. Do I poke around the different folders? Am I supposed to be doing something else/more?
Thank you for the feedback!
Yes, the game is designed for players to explore folders on the virtual computer, reading text files and emails to figure out how to stop EVE within the given time limit.
Regarding the text clarity issue, it might be related to fullscreen mode. I’m attaching a screenshot of how it looks on our end for comparison.
If possible, could you share your screen resolution and the browser you’re using? This information would really help us identify and fix the issue.
Thanks for sharing your experience—it’s very helpful
Thanks for your response! Wow, that's much clearer text! I was using Chrome, and my screen resolution was "Default for display" (idk that's what it says under screen resolution in settings). I'm using a MacBook Pro 2013 if that makes any difference.
Thanks so much for the additional details!
Knowing that you’re using Chrome on a MacBook Pro (2013) with the “Default for display” resolution is really helpful. We’ll take a closer look at how our game displays on similar setups to see if we can replicate and resolve the issue.
If you notice anything else, feel free to reach out!
I had the same issue with full screen -- Chrome on mac book pro M1, 2021 + default display on my monitor (1920x1080)
We’ll definitely look into how the game behaves on these systems and resolutions. If you spot anything else or have more details to add, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
Thanks for sharing your setup, zorkie!
Woah getting flashbacks to the old school computer days. The vibes are spot on. Though I would say as I'm rusty in text commands, would be handy how to interact with the dialog that starts while I'm "accessing" the computer.
Thank you very much for your feedback! 😊 We are glad that we were able to convey the old computer atmosphere!
For now, dialogue with EVE is not provided, but perhaps in the future we will add it.
Really, really cool game. Story could be a little more developed. One thing I would love to be implemented are more basic functions of the cmd, in particular the use of TAB to autocomplete, and be able to delve more folder into one another, i.e. doing cd home/email as en example.
Overall I really really enjoyed, I would have loved to have more backstory on the IA and maybe talking to her. However, really cool concept.
Thank you very much for such a detailed review and warm words! We are very glad that you liked the game and the idea with AI.
We will keep this in mind for future updates. Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing your thoughts!
Wow, that console truly feels real
Thank you! We tried to create the most realistic effect possible.😊
