Beautiful pixel art! As everyone else has mentioned, I especially love the cat. The furnace minigame seemed to require an excessive amount of repetitive clicking, so unfortunately I kinda gave up on that one. The game had a wonderful atmosphere though. Thanks for including a Linux build!

Developer

I'm glad you had a good time playing the game! We are planning to develop more so be on the lookout for dev updates and social links in the future! I agree that the furnace mini game requires you to pick up a bolder the size of the Earth! hahah Some tweaking and reworking will be done for sure.

I love the game and I see a lot of potential in it!!

I think above all else for me:

-There should be some sort of reward systems for finishing jobs

-The Water/Oil minigame seems like the most broken and I think it's because they're bound together ( i.e. Failing water causes an auto-fail even if you win oil)

Wishing you luck during further development if there is one =)

Developer

Thank you for the feedback and the good wishes for further development. We are continuing development and soon we will post some links and probably dev logs here to track the progress of the project. For the jam we had a time restraint to get things how we wanted and currently the water/oil mini-game do work as intended, however you are right that it does feel weird to still fail even after passing one. Rest assured the min-games will be reworked and tested well to make sure we catch all the bugs in the future. A reward system for finishing jobs to make it feel more like a accomplishment will most definitely be implemented in the future! :)

I quite enjoyed this game! Of course there's little bugs and glitches but for game jams that's totally fine.  I couldn't get past the first water mini game, in the end it proved too hard for me (takes moment of personal shame).

Developer

I'm glad you were able to enjoy the game even thought it had little bugs and glitches. I'm sorry the water/oil mini game was too difficult I hope you at least got to pass some jobs and didn't fail too many! Thanks for your feedback!

I like this litle game !

Some point are not perfect, for example :

- The guidance, the player are a litle lost in the game.

- Some Graphics bug.

-Hard to read

-and some bug who block the game.

But is a litle game, made in 24h, the audio is good, the graphics is good and the principle is good, just some point to review. Gg at you !

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! The continued development will work to iron these things out. Overall I am glad that you took the time to play and had a good time playing out game! :)

The most important thing first... please let us pet the cat. Also maybe let us name our cat?!

Next are some general notes and bugs I noticed:

  • UI popups or a (optional) guided tutorial would be nice
  • The font in the help menu is hard to read. For titles and banners it's nice, but it's too much for a paragraph.
  • Job difficulty levels would be a really cool addition.
    • The starting position and time allotted for each minigame could be a cool way to change difficulty.
  • Passing water OR oil vs having to pass both would be nice.
  • Bug - minigame arrows don't reset.
  • Bug - resolution scaling issue on the grinder wheel minigame occurs on native 4k display with game in full-screen mode.

Things I really liked:

  • The artwork is really nice and consistent!
  • I really enjoy that each minigame is different, but not too different. It's enough to keep you on your toes and entertained but not too much that it's confusing.
  • The sound design is great too! My favorite is the tink noise at the anvil :D
  • The start of the game is super smooth. You get the main title screen, hit 'space' and there you are in game ready to play, no loading or additional screens or anything.
  • The to-do list for each job was a nice surprise. After reading the description/instructions on the itch page, I was expecting to have to remember the order to do things on my own and that it wouldn't be in game. Having the little checklist in order is super nice!

Overall this is a really well done game! Especially considering the insanely small amount of time that was given to complete it. I'm excited to see where it goes as it's developed further.

Thank you for feedback! The resolution on the mini-games was something we knew but didn't have time to fix right away but plan to get that sorted right away. The cat will mostly definitely be able to be petted. We actually have some ideas as to what the water and oil mini-games will should do and in the future you will be able to pass either one or the other but it will have advantages or consequences. Thank you for the kind words and thoughtful list of feedback here it is greatly appreciated and everything will be taken into account. :)

I love the pixel art and the idea of having mini-games for each step of crafting! It all had a peaceful vibe, which made it very pleasant to play.

If you ever decide to expand on the game, it would be awesome to see more of a variety of different mini-games for each step, and perhaps increasing difficulty with each job that you complete. I found the water/oil one a bit too challenging - but that may just be because I am uncoordinated, haha! And seeing the result of what you craft would also be very neat. :)

Nicely done!

Thank you for the feedback! We do plan on continuing the project, so this will definitely be taken into account when working further. While testing the game I also had trouble with the water/oil minigames haha!

The minigames work pretty well, so that on Day 2, you already have a firm grasp of the minigames mechanics, making you feel like a proper smith at work.

The pumping of the furnace could've used some visual feedback. (maybe making the bellow move on click instead of automatically)

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! You make a good point about the bellows. We are going to continue the project further so we will make that better! :)

the game is very beautiful for the time put into it.  The atmosphere is charming and has no critique except for the fact that i cannot pet the cat :'( .  The help screen was very helpful, but I would prefer the help to be within each minigame that reappeared until you succeeded in that minigame.  The minigames themselves didn't give me any feedback on my input, for example the fireplace minigame should make smoke billowing noises each time the player clicks.  My last critique I have is that you don't do anything with these weapons, so why make them.  If I could sell them to customers, that would really make me strive to do the minigames and to do them well.  I might be too picky for a game only made within 10 days, so don't take my critique to harsh.  It was a beautifully crafted game and I look forward to what you guys make next going forward!

Thank you for the feedback. We had plans to implement some sort of selling system to actually have an execution for the job orders, but due time restraints we had to cut it. We agree with you 100%. Also, the cat will definitely be pet-able in the future if enough traction on the project is gained. :)

This game has some nice ideas going. The mini games are a bit hard to understand at first (especially if you don't read the description) but they are simple to play and the only one that might need adjusting is the furnace (My favorite is the barrels). The pixel art looks good on the sprites but I would like to see the furnace be redrawn to match the style of the other interactable objects.

Pros:

Art looks really good

Mini games are simple and fun

Bgm and sound effects are really cool

Cons:

No in-game 'H'elp context for instructions (although it is on the download page)

Some of the mini-games start you at a disadvantage

I cannot pet the cat

-----------

Overall recommend. Pretty good game.
