I enjoyed the game mechanics. The card art was nice, as were the effects that made the table feel really alive. I do wish the cards didn’t turn 90 degrees when picking them up, that made it a little challenging and unintuitive. The music was nice, if a bit repetitive.

Developer

Hey Ryan thanks for the feedback! :)  Yeah we're thinking of maybe moving the cards so that your hand is at the bottom of the screen instead of on the left which would sort this out.  Music was a funny one because we only had an hour to write something and implement it before the deadline.

While I haven't played triple triad in final fantasy at all I don't know the origins of the inspiration I still thought it was a pretty cool concept. I found the card aspect and interactions with the cards quite satisfying and hope to see you expand on this to be honest. I might mention that it would probably feel better if the cards were laid out in front of me instead of vertical like so even thought I get you were trying to make it a bit easier to see everything going on. I also thought the crafting was kind of cool, however how I was suppose to get coins was a little confusing and seemed a little weird I had to use coins in combination with the cards to craft new ones. I do get what you were doing there though and made it feel like recruiting new units for the battle. I overall liked the simplicity to the game and the images on the cars were cute! :)

Appreciate your feedback!
I might work on a post-jam version, and add some tooltips to show how the resources are earned and spent. (The actual crafting only ended up in the game one day before submission :'D)

I loved Triple Triad in Final Fantasy, and this was a really cool spin on it! Very enjoyable. :)

Developer

Thank you! It was quite difficult to come up with a spin on it that would involve crafting but I think we got there in the end

Thank you for making this. Super simple but so fun. Would you make it a print and play version for table top?

Developer(+1)

We hadn't considered it but I suppose we could maybe rangle something together? Will need to speak to my partner HQUIL but we're thinking of maybe continuing to work on this game so I suppose table top could be a part of it!

hello, thanks for your comment. I'd love to start making a simple print version next week.
Would you know any examples of games who do that really well? From past experience assembling it can get quite messy :3

I was thinking about it today. You could use paper clips or something similar to betrayal in the house on the hill for the upgrades. but the rest should be pretty straight forward card creation. You could even make them double sided for extra powers or replicability. I just really like the islands upgrade mechanic. more card games could do with something like that.
