How is your game related to the special object and theme?
Special Object: Candy cane - Candy cane pickups that allow you to defend iceberg obstacles has a 10% chance of spawning instead of a mentum pickup
Theme: Christmas, momentum - Our character is running from the North Pole, dodging icebergs and picking up mo' mentums (firey green pickups that increases your speed, build up speed faster than the natural decay rate to simulate building momentum)

Dude! This is great. Be more proud of it! You definitely know what you're doing and can make good games.
The only problem for me was the lack of sound effects. So if you decide to revisit it, definitley start with that.
Thank you! Hearing your thoughts not only made me proud of my game but made my whole day better. Can and will! :)
Suuuper valid. Pulls you right out of it. Audio is number one on my list for 2.0 :) What kind of sounds are we thinking?
People are used that in the real world everything that moves makes a sound, so this should be no different in game. Ambient wave sounds, sounds for collecting power-ups, crashing.
Just whatever, it's your game. Do what you feel is best.
Yes, and I find a lot of opportunity for creativity in the free-flow ideas others might have for small features, so thank you! Because I think those three areas are great places to start :)
Nice game! I actually didn't notice any screen dimension issues? (chrome, win10) So, yay haha. Motion feels nice, I like the backwards drift on the player as well as the icebergs and items. Responsive enough to feel like I could just dodge an iceberg as I collected a candy cane, etc.
If you decide to keep working on it, definitely post an updated link! I would definitely play.
Only managed a 98 but I'm pretty sure this will be one I come back to to try to beat my own score lol.
For a first game, really great job. Heck, it would be a good job for a second, third, fifth game. Keep it up! :D
Yay, the water drift was one of my favorite implementations :)
I will definitely be further developing this, and will now make sure to let you know when I do. I was curious about that... is my jam submission different from my game's itch project in a way that I can keep working on it without interfering with the jam voting/results? if that makes sense? lol
Thank you so much for the thoughtful and positive feedback, it truly means the world <3 I remember seeing a clip of your submission and the gameplay looked like a lot of fun. I look forward to playing it.
Nice!
What I usually do is just make a new project on itch and put a newer/improved version there at least until voting ends. Can even link to that one for anyone that may want to try it, perhaps in a Dev Log on this submission or just in the description even.
Enjoyable, impressive for a first game.
Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Your game's now on the top of my list to check out, but I already love the submission thumbnail!
