Not too bad, I found the crafting system very confusing and I didn't really have time to get my head around it without dying, which was a little bit infuriating, on top of that the controls felt a bit all over the place (except movement of course) which didn't help.  It would probably be better to have the inventory permanently up and maybe some description of what everything is as it wasn't clear.  Also due to the black and white nature, I died the first time because I didn't know what I was lol.  The graphics are nice, well drawn and the overall asthetic is pretty good.  I liked the music and the fact you put a little intro in, but it would have benefited from being smoother.  Great effort for something written in Java in 48 hours though! Just needs some tweaking and polishing :)

Thank you for your contribution.

We are glad that you enjoyed the "artistic" side of the game.

However, it is true that we made a big mistake by leaving out all the "Game Design" part. We are aware that our game is confused during the first approach and we need to rework everything related to UI / UX.

As they say, it's the mistakes that make us progress. Our next game should be better and better finished. Thank you !

There is a lot of promise there, with some work it could be a lovely little game :) It's good that you've learnt stuff from this! That's the main thing with jams! :)

This game is super cool, the art is really awesome, although the gameplay was confusing, I managed to pick up and craft the container, but I didn't know where to go from there, then I realized that you have to craft the sand thing alone. Overall it is a pretty good game, the gameplay is a bit confusing at times, but the art and  the music is awesome :D

Thanks Sinci1 ! I think you pointed out the major flaw of the game : the lack of clarity. It's something we didn't think of at all, and overall we should have focused more on UI/UX.

But the fact that you loved the art is heartwarming and (I speak for the whole team on this) fills us with overwhelming pride for what we achieved. Thanks again for trying our game and giving constructive feedback ! :D

The game looks intiging but I don't know how to pick up item, I should be able to pick up stuff no?

Developer (2 edits)

Hello Zulhuky, You can pick up item by pressing Z. If you go to the game page (and not the submission page) you can find relevant informations, such as keybindings, story, technical stuff, where to find the source code and more :)

Sorry, this game immediately crashes upon trying to launch. I use Windows 10. It mentioned something about requiring Java that I couldn't do much about.

Developer

You must have java 10 (JRE or JDK 10.0.1 or higher) installed on you computer, or you can try downloaded the zip containing a packaged JRE. If none of this works then I'm outta solutions since we cannot upload new files after the deadline...

I'm very sorry for the inconvenience :/

Is okay. I'll give it another shot later!
