Very cool! There was a lot more to this game than I expected for such a short amount of time. The sound effects were very fitting. And I really appreciated all the different abilities you could get; The sticky tongue was such a life-changer after getting used to it! Some checkpoints would have definitely saved some frustration but it was a very complete game and the use of Hopper as the main character was just perfect :-). I'm ready to save more frog friends!!

We love the smooth and well executed animation. It's impressive that you were able to put Hopper in a new context and give him a life :).

The platforms were challenging for us, but we managed to complete and free the Green Frog.

Keep up the great work!

Thank you for the feedback and thanks for playing! ❤

This was very well executed and had a lot of features! The music, themes, and playability were fantastic! Great work.

Thank you for playing !! ❤

It’s a pretty solid game! Definitely struggled and had to come back a couple times, still stuck on the purple level. Neat take on the metamorphosis prompt! And I loved that you used hopper as the main character.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Did you stuck only on the purple level or somewhere on the previous levels too? The game does have suddent difficulty spikes, I wrote down every complaint in case if I decide to make this into a full game so I'll be able to fix those
Thanks a lot for the feedback 🙂

I also got stuck on the spike section for a bit since I found the wall jumping a little confusing, having to press the opposite directional key to jump off, but I cleared it eventually. I'd suggest having an easier area that utilizes the purple ability for the player to get more used to it but is less immediately punishing, and then ramping up difficulty to the stage you  have. Also, having to wait for the mutation after every attempt took away from the fun a bit. Having a checkpoint state that has your character ready for the next attempt makes gameplay smoother.

I was wondering, was the sticktoe ability hard to program? How did you do it?

Developer(+1)

No it really wasn't, I did watch a few wallsliding tutorials though. Sticktoe is made using 4 raycasts on the player: 2 on the left and 2 on the right: if 2 of them are colliding, the controller transitions into a wallsliding state that returns only slow downwards velocity to the _integrate_forces function (function that allows more control over RigidBody2D's physics), I also referenced a lot of character controller code from the Godot's official RigidBody2D controller demo

I'm so honored to see Hopper in a game like this! The powers are creative and I'm impressed that they all made it into the game in such a short time.

If you decide to keep developing this, it would help to tweak the difficulty and add some checkpoints. Unfortunately I didn't make it to the end as I got stuck in the purple level. I also had to redo the purple powers cutscene and the earlier sections of the level each time I died.

The atmospheric background music is lovely. It felt like it was responding to my actions as I played which is always impressive in a jam game. Keep up the good work!

Developer

Yeah, we came up with the idea of frog, but couldn't decide which frog it should be, so we decided to settle on Hopper
The music is very fitting, thanks to our awesome composer :)
It does have issues with checkpoints and difficulty, thanks for addressing more of these, your feedback is very useful!! Thanks for playing! 🙂
