No it really wasn't, I did watch a few wallsliding tutorials though. Sticktoe is made using 4 raycasts on the player: 2 on the left and 2 on the right: if 2 of them are colliding, the controller transitions into a wallsliding state that returns only slow downwards velocity to the _integrate_forces function (function that allows more control over RigidBody2D's physics), I also referenced a lot of character controller code from the Godot's official RigidBody2D controller demo
Yeah, we came up with the idea of frog, but couldn't decide which frog it should be, so we decided to settle on Hopper
The music is very fitting, thanks to our awesome composer :)
It does have issues with checkpoints and difficulty, thanks for addressing more of these, your feedback is very useful!! Thanks for playing! 🙂
Most beautiful game on this jam! The scenery is truly beautiful.., plus a very good use of parallax!!
I completed the whole game, though at the last grid part I thought that the placement of the pattern doesn't matter and tried to activate it 1 tile lower than was on the screen pattern, got stuck there for like 7 min 😅, but finished the game!!
The mood and style reminds me of Amanita Design games. This one has a potential of becoming a full game!
I had a fun time creating planets and watch them grow. There's something very special in seeing how your actions change the envorinment, it's awesome to see clouds, birds, lakes appear the more trees and lakes you grow! And choosing a space whale as a main character is very symbolic. Very solid game!!
Created a 12-headed beast
It evolved very fast
Multiplied heads and legs
It started moving really fast on the screen
After a while it disintegrates into the 6th dimention
Joking aside, very good sandbox concept! Fun to observe how the creatures you create evolve. Best sandbox game on this jam so far! Would be cool to have more body parts to choose
Same! The artists did a very good job!
Every level is possible, but many of which have difficulty problems because they were rushed. The level you're talking about I think is the box and the slope level, there the box is useless, just push it down and jump off the slope while running
Thanks for playing!
The box isn't for anything haha, you have to push it down and then run along the slope and jump
I don't know why but I decided to put there box for no reason and in the result it confused a lot of players lol
The game was very rushed and has a lot of difficulty spikes, but nontheless thanks for playing!
"Character metamorphosis" is such a brilliant idea! When I think about metamorphosis it's always something very literal haha
Short but very sweet game. Dialogues are written well, charaters react naturally
As I understood it's an endless cycle that resets all village characters and you have to speak to them until you get enough kindness points, because it's impossible to get 20 in the first run with all the characters even if you choose best kindness options
The music cue that plays when you didn't get enough points sounds very nice
Performance: very good
Artstyle and visuals: VERY PRETTY! Backgrounds and buildings are so well done
Gameplay: VERY SATISFYING! Making abilities combo each other is such a genius move. Also good physics
A few problems:
1. Audio is not looping. I know that this is a Godot's issue
2. Player gets zoomed out so far that everything is very tiny and it makes it harder to platform and use grappling hook
3. Dialogue box UI is too small, hard to read
Finished the game in 788.8 sec :)
Yea I found it, finally.
Also, I finally finished the game and wanna point on some things:
- The part with generator was the most hardcore thing, I've spent like 40 minutes to complete it. I like that the monster is unpredictable, but that room was very hardcore and time consuming
- The "Pstt" part is broken, it says that I must stop for 5 seconds immediately after I hear the "Pstt", but first, the delay between "Pstt"s is like 5-6 secods, but how am I suppose to comlete this challenge? Like 1 second to move? The next broken part is that when I release all movement keys (W and Shift) immediately after I hear "Pstt" - the monster kills me, which is again, not acts like it stated in the rules. I completed it by guessing when the "Pstt" starts and stop moving before it starts.
- Some dialogues were funny, like at the part when I need to bring books and the boss speech (also lmao gigachad posters xd)
Ok so, here is the problems personally in my opinion:
1. I've been searching for cards for 20 min in those TV rooms and found none
2. Camera animation on camera sway is very shaking, could give motion sicknes
Things that are done good:
1. The game runs very good on my medium PC
2. Mosters aren't scary, but they do punish you if you don't run from them or get stuck in a dead end
Thank you for playing! Thank you so much for the gameplay video, It really helps me to see what needs to be improved/reworked. I clearly can see here that player should've gotten more hints how to progress, I should've pointed more clearly that the player should follow the phone call to proceed, and how to counter the entity
Found some bugs (PRE RELEASE ALPHA v0.2.1):
1. If you keep holding Shift your BPM will raise even if you are walking normaly
2. I can see world sky if I look furhter in the fog
3. Mini freezes on level 0 when generating a new chunk
4. If you hold crouch, then press jump, camera will move up like jumping, when collision shape will remain in a crouch form
5. Boxes do loud sound when near each other
6. If you continue doing step 1. your BPM will reach 140, then you won't be able to walk, but you'll be able to walk with 140 BPM in crouch state
7. If you stay close to a ceiling and jump, you will stuck in the air until jump timer time out
I hope I helped you :)
