Creating a project before Game Jam?

Hello,

It is my first time that this will be my Game Jam, so I was wondering if creating a game project using like Unity or Unreal before the Game Jam start is allowed?
By this, I mean since it takes a while to load up the project, I was curious if I just create the project and just leave it there how it is?

I hope my question is clear to you.

Thanks in advance,

Kyle.

The goal of a game jam is to see what someone can create within a limited time. It's up to your own judgement to decide what's okay or not, some people might use pre-made libraries to create their games - others create a whole game engine from scratch (not recommended, obviously).

Thanks for your reply, this information was very helpful.

Typically what we do is post our starting template on GitHub, so anyone who wants to use our blank project can feel free. Also serves as a nice "baseline" for what got finished during the jam.

Here's our template for the CoronaSDK...
