1. Create a new game using this link

2. Upload the files for your game, do a final check to make sure your game actually runs

3. Save and view the page

4. Click 'Edit project' on top of the page, scroll down and change visibility to 'public'

5. Visit the Kenney Jam page and click 'Submit your project'

6. Pick your game from the 'Existing project' list

To make sure you've submitted your game correctly go to your game page, on the top right it should say 'Submission to Kenney Jam'

The deadline has passed, unfortunately any game that hasn't been submitted correctly will not be able to participate in the jam

Yep! It's honestly a lot of fun too though, we do it in batches. Play games for an hour or two and then continue the next day

That's right, we did it for a few years but people find ways to cheat and it'll lead to frustrated people. So instead we'll be highlighting entries ourselves!

Hey! The judges are me and Kay Lousberg, we'll be playing and judging the games this week and then feature a bunch!

The judges will currently play (and judge) games during which games cannot be edited. You can however edit the page itself to add screenshots or a description. After the judging is done (no ETA yet) we'll unlock everything and you can again edit the game itself.

It has been submitted to the jam (to check, see the upper right corner of your page)

It's allowed!

Could you explain how our game fits the theme?

Maybe this helps? https://www.britannica.com/dictionary/connection

They are optional, you can do the challenges if you feel like challenging yourself but they're not a requirement

Yes, you're only allowed to use a single pack in that instance. So you'll have to choose between 3D models, or a UI pack for example. Audio and fonts however can be taken from anywhere (doesn't have to be Kenney assets) so those can be used and don't affect the single pack bonus challenge

You'll need to find a game engine to use, and build a game using that. However, this is a 48-hour jam and I genuinely doubt you can learn both the skill of game development and create a decent entry at the same time.

Yes, you can use such systems

It's not forbidden, but I'd recommend sticking to one team and doing 1 game

Yeah you can use pre-made code

There's a FAQ on this page, the challenge is to use the game assets as-is.

It's allowed, but not recommended. As you say, it limits the potential audience greatly

All games will be collected on the jam page, in order to participate in this game jam you'll have to submit (a web playable game, or executable) on Itch.io. So games that are only present on the Scratch website cannot participate.

Yes, you can

You'll have to use the game assets as is, you can't draw over their textures

Yes, that'd be allowed

There are no prizes

Yeah both things are allowed! You'll still be using the assets, only changing them technically

You can choose whether you'd like to create a 2D or 3D game

Do note that during Kenney Jam custom assets are not allowed, you'll have to use pre-made ones.

Yep absolutely, you can use any engine or tool as long as you're able to upload your game to Itch.io.

Hey! Fantastic that this will be your first jam, this is how it'll go;

- On July 19th we'll announce a theme, for example "Exploration". You can see the exact local time the jam starts on the jam page.

- You'll start creating a game using that theme, you can use any sort of game engine or tools but in this jam in particular you'll have to use only certain game assets. You don't have to stream your development, that's up to you. During the jam you can join our Discord for example, to show your progress, get feedback and socialize with others.

- On July 21st the jam ends, you'll upload your game to the jam page on Itch.io for others to play!

The game jam has no prizes, it's online-only so there are no places you can join physically

All these questions are answered in the FAQ, you can use particle effects but the sprites/textures used in these should come from the asset packs. There's a particle sprites asset pack.

The assets should include many UI elements, fonts can be sourced from anywhere and don't have to come from me specifically. Do not use primitives for the interface, try to adhere to the challenge and use UI elements from assets instead - there are more than enough
