I really enjoyed this one!

Though the gameplay was simple, the story really made up for it and still had me invested. I love Squishy's animation of just lightly pacing around, makes it far cuter. I liked the visuals too, The way the Slime and Squishy are made up of different spheres reminds me of Vectorman from the Sega Genesis and it was clever that the segments of the slime indicated the player's health. I also like how the lighting interacts with the model.

The only things I can think to recommend is that it would be good to allow the player to fast forward the text rather than skip it entirely since it is so short. This will allow those who read faster to get through it quicker and those who don't want to read it at all to still skip it entirely or lightly skim read it. Also a pause menu is always a great overlooked feature but I completely understand not having one with the time constraint, I didn't either for my last game jam.

I only ran into two glitches:

1.) If you interact with something while moving, you keep moving in that direction.

2.) The guard can trap you in the corner if you line it up right.

Very fun entry and shoutouts to Squishy.

Thank you so much for this response!  There were quite a few points where I wasn't sure if I'd make the deadline - and 2 seconds is cutting it way too close!  I do not recommend it :)

I love the idea of fast-forwarding the text!  For the first update, I'll make some changes.  Instead of holding E to skip, I'll have it scroll the instructions faster, then releasing it will bring it back down to the 'normal' speed, and we'll see how that feels!

A pause / options menu is absolutely on the short list for things to add once the voting period is over.  I have also fixed the bugs you ran into.  I knew about them ahead of time, but...  2 seconds to spare.  I very truly ran out of time :)  I am glad to say that the bugs you encountered are already addressed for the next update!

Also, sound.  I'll need to figure out some cute sound effects for Squishy and... well, everything else!

This was such an amazing experience, and the kind comments and honest feedback are so awesome to read.  Thank you again, and I'll absolutely continue to build and improve on this project.  There are so many things I had to leave behind for the jam, and I look forward to providing a far more (reasonably) challenging experience for everyone!

I loved the story at the beginning, very fun. I was ready to play for sure! I didn't hear any audio, not sure if that was just my computer being weird.

I loved saving squishy and I freaked out a bit when the guard shined his light on me, but I was expecting a game over or him to shoot at me or something and did not, was this intended? The vents were a very cool idea!

Great work!

Developer

Thank you very much for trying it out!  There is no audio in this build, but that will be coming along after the voting period - along with bug fixes, additional behavior and such.  The guard(s) will eventually have some bullets, but for now, he just has to charge in :)

I plan to set up some more tile art for the level and will definitely be working on an actual level, multiple guards and a number of improvements.  This was a fantastic learning experience!

I really enjoyed making this, bugs and all.  I look forward to building on this foundation, and we'll see where it goes!

Love the story! ^.^ I enjoyed interacting with the objects as well!

Developer

Thank you very much, ITC!  It was really funny to hear you mention Squishy while I was sleeping!  I'm glad you enjoyed the game!  Will keep updating it once the voting period is over!

You're very welcome! Looking forward to seeing future updates! ^.^

I didn't expect a giant green boob.

But I got a giant green boob, complete with pink nipple.

Dunno if this was intended, but that's what I got.

So that sense of surprise was there.

In this sordid tale, I am a giant green boob looking for my missing nipple.

Didnt hear any sound.

But the game totally worked. I eventually figured out what I needed to.

Interesting.

Developer

That was absolutely not intended, but now I can't unsee it :D  No sound yet, but I will be revising / improving the project once we are allowed to!  Thank you so much for trying the game out!  I will also be adjusting the artwork so that the player and Squishy are less boob / nipple-like :)
