I loved this game! I even saved it so I can play it later! Awesome job!

The art style is nice and cohesive, really clean presentation.  The sound effects pair perfectly with it.  The heat for your weapon makes for different strategy than for instance in Gradius 3 where you just want to shoot everything on the screen all the time.  Plus, really, the speed of your ship wont allow you to do that--you have to pick your battles.  I didn't get very far in the game 'cause I wasn't very good at it, but one issue for me was that I couldn't tell if there were powerups or not.  The first thing I tried to grab turned out to be a bomb so I stopped trying to grab things lmao.

I love the art for this game! The meter seems manageable until you get your blaster upgrade, then you'll be wanting to blast all the time, I like that. Id add longer invincibility frames after getting hit because my run would end in a flash if three bullets hit me at once! And some distinction between friendly and enemy bullets! Overall, very addicting, great work!

Great job and fun game, very reaction heavy is the only thing. I would slow it down a tiny bit to get more enjoyment. The temperature bar can also overshoot its bounds when you die, it could be worthwhile setting an upper limit on you fill value.
