Did you work in a team?
1 team member, I did all the programming, art, sound effects, and game design. I had fun!

Was the resolution a challenge?
The worst part of the resolution was trying to remember if the hashtag was #LOWREZJAM or #LOWRESJAM. My first prototype of this game was for the Apple ]['s LORES 40x40 display mode, so 64x64 gave me a little more room to work in.

What did you learn?
I had fun working with procedural maze generation (it's not hard!)

I like the pattern of having multiple generators available, and if the fanciest first one doesn't give good results fast enough, fall back to a simpler one.

I was reminded that sounds add depth to a game

I was reminded that my name just barely fits onto a credits screen on a single line, with a 4px wide font

It's a pacman clone so the gameplay is pretty basic and just a copy, but other than that it's fun and I really like that you implemented procedurally generated mazes. An extra giant maze was pretty neat as well. Considering this was originally a prototype for the Apple ][ is cool and this was a nice continuation. I'm sure your father would be proud. Good job!

If you want, please check out my submission.

Well… it’s a pacman clone :D

Nicely done on it! I was underwhelmed at first, but once I saw the meta-maz concept and how you expanded upon the original I quite liked it! Nice submission!

Interesting idea to expand Pac-Man with a big overarching maze.... Adding some more novelties and quality of life improvements might make this into an interesting spinoff :D

The extra giant maze idea is really interesting , I could see this concept being expanded on..

Thanks! I wanted to experiment with a really big procedural space, and this was a pretty simple implementation of the idea. I'd like to explore (ha!) more room-and-tunnel (like the original roguelikes) maze generation at some point, and this gives some foundation for how it could be done.

I enjoyed this game, and I really like the large meta-maze concept.

A very interesting concept that I think can be developed further.

Very nice and simple graphics, easy to read. The meta-maze idea is very cool but in it's current incarnation has some flaws. My immediate thought on seeing the full maze was "oh sh*t this will take hours", and upon clearing another screen I thought "well how do I even remember where I'm going?". Perhaps a pause/map screen would alleviate this.

However I think instead of a traditional labyrinth maze the concept could be tweaked into a more straghtforward non-linear map, like a metroidvania or zelda dungeon. Reach different areas to open up new ones, etc.

Yeah, if I were to put some bigger rewards on the meta-maze, it'd be a lot more important to be able to navigate it easily.

Or, you could old-school it and map out the meta-maze using graph paper ;)

I like the consept of the meta-maze it's even daunting to imagine it
