Did you work in a team?
I worked solo, I did everything basically.
Was very fun !

Was the resolution a challenge?
The resolution made things easier , because I was able to focus on gameplay and code rather than on pixel art

What did you learn?
Learned to code particles effects, result was nice.

This is a cool take on the infinite runner - almost like it's mixed with typing games (obviously not typing words, though). I enjoyed it quite a bit, but it's pretty difficult. The arrows get lost against behind the rocket particle effects, and could benefit from being spaced one pixel apart so they don't touch each other.

The highest score I was able to get was 175 or so (Somewhere in the 170's). If you keep going with this game, I think it has a lot of potential. Some more sound effects and a little refinement of the clarity of the visuals, and you'll have a really fun game on your hands. Great entry!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! You are right about the visibility, it is something I will improve post jam, sfx are also on the to do list. Thanks for playing !

Even though it isn't perfect this game is very fun to play and has a good balance between fun and hard gameplay. It will definitely be one of those that stay in my library after the jam.

Great job man!

Thank you very much for playing !

I finally got through and beat the boss. Lemme tell ya, the vertical missile walls were pretty brutal. I was able to get through them once I realized that they usually came in consecutive pairs.

It was definitely a fun and satisfying game. Nice work!

Yess ! I am so happy someone did it and beat the boss !! Yes the wall is definetely one of the hardest patterns (I think it is even broken when you go far in infinite, will need a postjam fix ;)), but it is always the same combination of keys so the player can prepare the fingers lol. Thank you very much for playing !!

Pretty cool and stylish mechanic!

I couldn't quite get the timing of the portals. sometimes it didn't seem to register the inputs even though my left-side bars were full, but perhaps it was just that I didn't understand it properly.

I think even though the idea has potential for more, it was already fun and quite developed.

Developer

Thank you for playing ! To be able to teleport you have to be not too far from the portal and press the combination fast, otherwise there might be some bugs hiding.

Really nice work, tough action packed game! Maybe you could use a sound and/or visual effect tolet the player know abotu the slo-mo effect. Great job though! Please check ours out too: https://itch.io/jam/lowrezjam-2020/rate/732044

Thank you for your feedback, indeed the game needs some sfx to make things a bit clearer, but I ran out of time.

Hey… I really like the idea of this game! I really like the teleportation mechanic. Really cool idea for a runner game. For me, though… I was playing this through WINE on Linux and the game REALLY slowed down whenever a missile was on the screen, so it was nearly impossible for me to get into a rhythm enough to play for long, I’m sorry to say. Graphics and sound were really nice, though. I think if I wasn’t getting the dragging, that music would have really helped keep me in the action!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! I uploaded a Linux version today, didn’t have access to a Linux computer earlier. About the slowdowns, they may be the slowmotion which gives you extra time to press the combo ? If not, then I am sorry your experience was hindered :(

Submitted(+1)

Oh! I wasn’t aware there was an intentional slow motion system! That may very well be what I was experiencing, in which case, the game was probably running just fine! :)

Submitted(+1)

Very fun but very tough... I would add some health pick-ups, and some type of visual or sound so the player knows the game is slowing down on purpose.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you for your feedback ! I wanted to add sound effects at some point, but I ran out of time unfortunately. It is clear the game is very tough right now, I am planning to update it with easy and hard mode after the jam ends.

When I tried to run the .exe it said OpenAL32.dll was not found.

Developer(+1)

Hello, try to download the dll from this https://github.com/SFML/SFML/blob/master/extlibs/bin/x86/openal32.dll and put the file near the game executable.

Submitted

That worked. The game is sadly unplayable for me. I'm getting extreme amounts of slowdown any time an enemy is on screen.

Developer

This may be the slowmotion, it happens when you are near a portal to give you time to press the arrows.

This was a really fun game! It's brutally difficult and the gameplay mechanics are good.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback ! Yes it is too much difficult unfortunately, I think it needs balance because right now I don’t know if anyone will spend enough time to make it to the boss .

Awesome game, it's always cool to see people use lower-level frameworks in jams! Once you get the hang of the controls, timing your button presses is really fun and the visual effects/music sync make it even more satisfying. I love the pixel art and animations too, especially the intro animation. Great work!
