Did you work in a team?
I did most of the simple sprites and all the coding, but my friend helped me with a couple of the better looking sprites.

Was the resolution a challenge?
Adding low-res text didn't look great, and I was planning on making an rpg, so that was a problem. In the end, I decided on turning the project in a completely new direction, so that resolved itself. The game I have now doesn't use any text.

What did you learn?
I learned that an easy way to fix janky physics is to re-code them yourself. This game originally used Unity's physics, but they didn't feel quite right, so I replaced the physics with a couple scripts.

I could see remaking Pong as a good exercise towards improving programming skills. I think I was looking for something that's a little more ambitious in terms of new gameplay ideas.

The controls feel a little soupy as well. The pong paddle continues to glide after I stop holding down the button to move it.

I would work on getting this thing to control very crisply

Developer

Thanks for the critiques, I'll work on the controls. 👍

Awesome concept and nice game , only needed some sound and would have been incredible! :D

Developer(+1)

Yeah sorry for the lack of audio, I usually play games without sound, so that's the last thing that comes to mind. Next time I'll work on that :D

Been looking forward to play this since the beggining of the voting phase, but it was bugged so I couldn't, finally got to play it and it was very good! very well designed and enjoyable little game, good job dude!
I just think it lacked some audio but apart from that very good!

Game doesn't load and by the comments it seems it's bugged. But if you fix it reply me and i'll try it ;)

Developer(+1)

The desktop version works. Thanks for waiting :D

If you happen to have a Mac, I'll be uploading that one in a minute.

Same. If you check the browser console (F12) there is an error at the point where it freezes, which may mean something more to you than it does to me. :(

Developer

Quick question- if I do work out the bugs and everything, do you know if I'll get any ratings? I had a similar last-minute-bug situation with another jam, and I saw most people do ratings at the beginning.

same here too :(

Hey, I tried to play your game, but its stuck on the title screen. Do I have to press different key?

same

Sorry, I've been having difficulty getting it to work. It plays fine in the editor, but once I export it, sprites start disappearing. Along with that, I can't get the input working with the browser version. There are no error codes, and these are for the most part undocumented bugs, so I haven't been able to find a solution. I'll probably take it down until I can fix it.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe you can contact the mods of this jam and put a playable windows version instead. (of course if they allow it)

If it helps, it is complaining about the input system in the browser console (F12)

Developer(+1)

Is that what it is? Thanks, I saw the error code, but I had no idea what it was. I looked it up and couldn't find anything, either. Wasn't sure what part of it I was supposed to look at.

Maybe try uploading a downloadable version. In my game there are some bugs that only happen outside the editor too so I get how frustrating it can be.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Well, the input is half the problem. On both builds (downloadable and web), sprites disappear. I'll upload the desktop version so you can see what I mean.

Edit: The sprites disappearing glitch is fixed! The downloadable version works.

Hell yeah, I’ll give it a go after work, you should play/rate/comment on other people’s games so that they come back here and know to rate yours!
