Really cool world! I included it in my LowRezJam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)
Great visuals. Love the aesthetic.
For me, the text boxes and movement were too slow. I just wanted to hop into the meat of the gameplay, but I spent more time reading slow text.
I would say minimize the text or make it show up right away or be completely skippable.
I liked the puzzles, but like a lot of others here, I didn't quite get what c did. After I did figure it out, however, it was a really good game. It definitely has me hooked for a sequel :D
Genuinely enjoyed your game. You got my highest ratings yet. Looking forward to a follow up, the ending seems to imply such.
I actually streamed a friend playing Rat Prince and then streamed myself playing your game last night on Twitch.
Looks great, sounds good..but I was completely confused by the symbols displayed when pressing 'C'.
I really enjoyed this. We also had a combination lock puzzle in our game and we are getting a fair few comments about not being able to figure out the combination. I have to say I like your clues. You had allusions to the answer and red herrings which made it fun and quite satisfying when I finally figured it out.
I also must agree with the comments regarding the axe. I think the use of the axe is clear enough the moment you get it. I think the lack of feedback when you actually use it is a little confusing, but since the path forward is linear enough, your trial and error will bring you to the solution.
Great work!
Came back to this one and finished it! The lock puzzle had me stumped the first attempt, because I completely misread one of the clues, hah. The pixel art is quality, and the sprint button was a good idea. I only wish that there was some feedback when you use the axe. I didn't realize right away that I'd gotten anything by using it.
Your game doesn't really respect the 64x64 pixel rule, because the camera moves on your actual game canvas, which is much larger. If you moved the world instead of the camera, and your canvas was never more than 64x64, that would be fine!
Personally I think this was just a creative way to show you the size of the house, and at least follows the spirit of the 64x64 rule. But I'm not telling you how to rate the game. :)
Oh don't get me wrong, I love the implementation as-is, I think it's clever and stylish.
I hope my comments are taken in the spirit they're meant: I just want to help ensure everyone has a chance to submit their best game to the jam.
