Themes
The story was to follow the theme of the side quest being the main quest in which the character journeyed into a grocery store dungeon to get a specific type of milk for his grandma.
Tools
We used Godot Engine to create the game and utilized Aseprite in a limited canvas maximum of 64x64.
Lessons
Do not plan advanced gimmics (such as procedural generation) for a game jam with little time. Make an actual dungeon before planning on making it procedural. And utilize a lot of Godot resources to help with loading and saving levels.

You say you’re all newbies, but this is actually pretty damned good! I never got the hang of attaching the enemies (I’m not sure if I was missing or just too slow) so I wish there’d been some leeway in there – but this is really neat and you should be proud!
extra points for the J/K controls :D
Whilst fumbling for the controls (I clicked play too soon) the first slime nearly killed me and pushed me out of the level, which was incredibly funny.
The hit detection of the sword is a little odd, and thus it's far more difficult to kill the slimes than maybe was intended. (Of course, I understand the limits of time, however—the lack of feedback on whether a sword slash actually hit didn't help. I'm not actually sure if slimes were a one-hit-kill and the hit detection was *that* precise, or if the slimes needed multiple hits and the hit detection *wasn't* all that precise.)
In the end, though, you made something! And that's worth a lot. Keep making things, and you'll only get better from here. <3
Oh! And let it not go unsaid, the character art is very cute.
Thank you for your feedback! As a member of the team, this is very much appreciated!
Just played Grocery Quest! I was able to play a solid 5 mins before getting stuck in a door however what I did play it was super fun! Awesome job!
I think my favourite part of this one is that the little slime enemy is reminiscent of the Godot logo while also being incredibly creepy lol. The way the enemy face kind of blurs and randomizes works surprisingly well.
Always hard to find time focusing in on the right things in a game jam, keep it up. <3
Our team had a tough-go at finding time to work on this game during the timeframe, so it's not much, but please provide some feedback as-is! Anything helps as we're all Newbies. Thank you!
