Cool idea, took a minute to figure out where to go and how to read the map. Nice take on the theme, good job!

Really enjoyed! I confess that it took me a while to understand that I had to illuminate the "jewel" with colored light. I ran through the maze. I missed sounds.

Congratulations!

Thank you! Really wish I'd had time to add in sound effects for the movement and gems, and some basic background music. :(

the game is really cool, the graphics are nice and simple. The controls were a little bit weird, a good idea is making the player look around with the mouse and move with wasd or arrows

Developer

Thank you. There are a few reasons I didn't go that route.
1) It's a retro-style game, and this was a very common control scheme for old games (e.g., Combat on the Atari, Wolf3D, etc)
2) It's developed in PICO-8, which doesn't really allow for mouse control (unless using debug mode, which isn't supported in browser)
3) I dislike games that require you to use both hands (mouse + keyboard) when one hand is enough to cover all the controls. Requiring only one hand rather than two can make your game more accessible, both for people with physical restrictions and for folks using laptops without mice (like me!)

oh Alright, still a great game good luck

Very cool! Didn't stay patient enough to get all the letters but very nice minimal pixel noise look!

And thank you for the compliment!

Amazing mechanics to get the shyning thing. It's maybe a little to hard for me, but the minimap helps a lot.  Good job! :D

Interesting and I like the style, but ultimately it was quite difficult to make sense of. Also I wasn't really that sure about the objective, I didn't manage to get to the end.  Still good job!

It took me awhile to move around, but I've always had issues with reading mini-maps, and space conceptualization in general, so I'm thinking it's more me and less a design issue. That said, the colors were useful for navigating! And moving through the dark is supposed to feel hard, right? Love your use of PICO-8 here!

This seems really cool, however I couldn't figure out the goal. I explored and revealed the entire maze.

Without being too explicit: as you reveal more of the map, you might notice certain rare things in the pathways that also show up on the mini-map. Their colors are meaningful, and they'll always appear near certain walls...

I had found a little green pixel, so I stood behind a nearby green wall to shine green light on it, and I got the word "Shine" over and over, but I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be "picked up" or anything.

Ah yeah, so close... just gotta leave the light shining on it and letting it sparkle long enough to collect it :)

Ah, snap! Thanks for clarifying!
