How does your game fit the Magical Girl genre?
Lucy is a character with the ability to open magic portals.

Which theme(s) do you pick?
Freedom Dive

How does your game fit those theme(s)?
In this universe, magical girls are commonplace and Lucy is a dime a dozen. As a contract magical girl, she has the *freedom* to take on whatever job she chooses. She must take the dive to become a magical girl worthy of the public's attention!! (And maybe they'll give her money so she doesn't have to run a laundromat as her day job... )

If you follow any of the optional challenges, elaborate as you like.
Lucy runs a laundromat and uses the washing machines to make her portals. It is also a rhythm game!

Were the assets for your game made during the jam? Elaborate as you see fit.
The background art, character art, animations, and music were all created during a 3 week period!! We are planning to add a boss level and a more polished version of our magical girl transformation animatic since we didn't get the chance to finish during the jam period.

The opening animation feels like a laundry product advertisment. I like it. The magic girl concept is fun. and the graphic is overall cute.

for the game, I am bad at keeping it on beat, so in the end i just keep using ranged attack.

Very cool game! I'm really bad at it... I've got no rhythm I guess... ^^;

I liked the artwork and overall aesthetic of the game. The transformation sequence was a nice touch, and I'm amused by the tide-pod costume. I managed to win using almost exclusively ranged attacks, so at least I could find a strategy that worked for me!

Really great work! Looking forward to the update!

really loved the concept of magical girls becoming more commonplace and really liked the animations too! my only gripe is the music, while fun in the gameplay section, i didn't really like it anywhere else. that's just me tho, awesome game :)

Love the transformation sequence, and really like the combination of rhythm and action fighting game!

the animation on the battle sprites for Lucy and the enemies are so cool!! you can tell how much effort went into every visual aspect of the game. The gameplay was really fun too!

Wow!! I was not expecting a whole hand-drawn transformation sequence!

I'm not experienced with necrodancer-type gameplay, so this was pretty tough for me. But the animations are nice and juicy and I really enjoyed this game!!

An interesting clash between Crypt of the Necrodancer and MegaMan Battle Network.

Nice character design and animations, and I love that intro screen!

It is very hard to make a rhythm-sensitive input in a web game, but it looks like you've nailed it.

Here is a list of nitpicks from me (since you age going to work on this game anyway):

  • the order in which objects are drawn is not natural, so frequently something from behind is drawn on top
  • the movement possibility is only checked after the move animation is complete, adding some jank when two characters are trying to set foot on the same square
  • for better accessibility, the left mouse click to advance the dialogues could be doubled by one (or all) of the action keys
  • every enemy at some point stops trying to approach you and just keeps spamming projectiles forever

It would be cool to see more enemies with different attack patterns, keep it up!
