Really nailed the feeling of the armored core games, so it was cool to play through this. I really would have liked to see this with a more complex level, as well as a way to reload your gun.

Thanks! That's exactly the feel I was going for. Doesn't get me points for originality haha but oh well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Loved the visuals, would love to see this expanded further!

As an Armored Core fan this ticked all the right boxes for me.

Impressive for 7 days, but it unfortunately needed much more time.

Hi thanks for the feedback! I'm embarrassed to say that I actually did spend 2 weeks on the game. I also uploaded this for 32 bit jam which started before mechjam 2, but I spoke with the host of mechjam 2 and he was cool with me only working it for the duration of 32 bit jam, since that is also 2 weeks in length.

I pretty much wasted the first week learning and trying to model, rig, animate and texture in a retro style, which I should've practiced before the jams started as I ran out of time for sound and any little bits of polish I could've added.

Reminded me of the beginning of Shogo: Mobile Armor Division, which was cool. The movement has a solid zippy-ness to it kinda like Armored Core, and I thought it was very well done.

I repeatedly found myself wishing there was a way to see through the top of my mech or see more of whatever my reticle was hovering over. I found myself wishing for more weapons to try, as I also couldn't get Q and E to do anything and ran out of ammo when I tried to kill everything. At the same time, zipping through the hail of shells on a replay without getting hit once just so I could take down the boss-thing was a lot of fun.

Solid foundation, you could easily turn this into something more!

For anyone else having the resolution issue on Windows:

Alt + Enter should trigger fullscreen mode in most cases

Hey thanks for the feedback!  Yeah for the level you're equipped with only a chest mounted gun, in game reasoning being that you're a rookie and they didn't want to spend more than necessary for a test mission. I figured that it was "alright" since in games like armored core, unless you manage your ammo and/or equip a melee, you're boned if you're out of ammo. I did want to add a melee but ran out of time.

Thanks for the solution to the resolution thing! Like I said, I'm not too familiar with configuring UE4 to be played in different resolutions and aspect ratios >_>

Cool game and it definitively has that Mechwarrior vibe to it.

i like the wasd mouse combo controls, fits perfectly for this style of action, i had a similar issue where i didn't seem to be able to switch weapons with the Q/E keys and since i couldn't i also ran out of ammo at some point.

Other than that it has a nice presentation and solid controls, just too bad it doesn't seem to have sound :(

but regardless nice entry :)

Hey thanks for the feedback! I've actually never played a mechwarrior game before but I've seen gameplay of it! My main inspiration was armored core, hence the faster pace and zippy movement.

Yeah for the level you're equipped with only a chest mounted gun, in game reasoning being that you're a rookie and they didn't want to spend more than necessary for a test mission. I did want to add a melee attack for a last resort but I ran out time/didn't manage my time as well as I should've. I figured that it was "alright" since in games like armored core, unless you manage your ammo and/or equip a melee, you're boned if you're out of ammo.

No problem, time constraints can be quite hard on a project so i totally understand anything that gets cut :)

I was mostly reminded of Mechwarrior from the low poly look, and funnily enough, i'm in the opposite case where i know Armored Core from reputation  but seen a bit of it in videos online but never played one XD

Cool retro aesthetic and effects! With fun dodging/movement mechanics

Though I had a hard time trying to read the story text when dodging bullets! And by the time I got behind the main gun I was out of ammo and couldn't seem to switch weapons with Q/E?

Great work overall though :)

That is a problem with just text, I ran out of time for sound and I don't have anyone to do voice acting >_>.
