The effort and quality of the intro is incredible! Did not expect anything like that in a game jam like this.
The combat gameplay could really use some work, but other than that it was great.
Awe thank you a lot that means so much :) And well set out to make an anime episode so had to follow through with the plan haha!
But yep the combat definitely needs some loving haha! Ran out of time to make it better sadly...
Fun game! I love all the anime tropes and the opening recap was great. Lots of fun cutscenes, loved the mech launch scene. The mechs looked amazing as well. Gameplay could use some work though. Enemy mechs felt a bit too easy to kill, and it's hard to tell when you get hit and from where. With some work though, I could see this being expanded out into a fun anime mech game! Good work to all!
Thank you for taking the time to play it :)
Yeah the mech gameplay is a little shonky to say the least (Hope you played the v2 though v1 was more shonky haha! ) but starting to think it might be a good idea so will fix it up for sure! And wanted to add a directional damage indicator but ran out of time sadly xD Thank you for the nice review :)
the struggle of clones to find their place in this unforgiving world truly tugged my heartstrings
F Keiko... may she find peace in another clone
Srsly impressive what you all managed to get done in such a short amount of time
You hit the nail on the head I hope clones never become an actual thing with humans because geez they will have it rough... If you havnt already you should watch a British movie called Never Let Me Go.
If the story is ever continued she would be replaced many times while every other character has to act as though nothing has happened so not sure about peace the poor thing! But would have one of them eventually break the cycle!
And awee thank you I had a awesome team to help! :)
You guys put soooo much stuff into this game.
You might want to scale back the scope of your projects in the future. For the sake of your own sanity at least.
Haha thank you!
And that would be smart haha but soon as we realised it was possible to it just had to hit the ground running!
Thank you for playing :)
Hm... It seems before I can really give it a try I need to upgrade my driver...
When I run it I get that message and then the game crashes..
Well, what it cannot find is a symbol file that isn't to be found within the game's folder:
This command finds no file either. So renaming the folder doesn't help any.
Ah dam sorry about that I have just disabled the download for it now!
A forum in google with the same error lists
"For those looking for an answer, try specify opengl version when running your game, my situation here is adding “-opengl4” and finally got it ticked." Maybe see if that works?
also saw using "-gpus all" can help with nvidia cards!
I was surprised that there were cutscenes! There was a story there too, as well as some mech combat. Overall I'm impressed with the size of the scope that has been delivered.
However, I did notice that in every aspect, there was also something off about it (probably because of the large scope). For example, the visual style felt inconsistent, walking around in the building felt a little 'janky'.
The music was great and suited what was going on on-screen.
Thank you for the playthrough! Loved the story on your own game!
And yep so with the jankiness thats probablly because I did it haha! I ended up doing all the cutscenes, gameplay, environments, mechs models, characters and unreal blueprints. Was hoping to get an actual programmer to take care of the main gameplay at least, but the first one disappeared and the second stole some assets I made and then disappeared xD Basically too much to do too little time sadly but my goal was to create something like playing through a mech anime episode and the rest of the team filled in for all the parts I could not do myself and I think we got there so super thankful to them and what we did :)
And the music is all thanks to https://itch.io/profile/devilsaccordionist and https://elpablosd.itch.io/ they did a wonderful job!
What a trip! I love the campy-ness and self-awareness.
Awee thank you it was a joy to try and ham it up xD
I really did panic when that one cutscene happened and I was streaming hahaha! It was a fun riff on mech anime.
I saw that sorry about the potential fears of ban xD I put a content warning on the game page but forgot to put on on here sorry!
finding enemies that aren't currently on the minimap is kind of frustrating, especially with how slow sprinting is.
other than that, the production value's great and the gameplay shows promise.
The Path finding broke for the few around the far edges of the map, those annoyances are meant to rush you at the start like the others. I should of just removed them but was running out of time sadly but thank you for taking a look :)
The visuals are striking, the cel shading works for the anime aesthetic. The controls are intuitive but the hit detection was hard to figure out. Very impressed that you took the time to do voice overs. Keep up the good work.
Oh the hit detection is actually fine the issue is the projectiles stop doing damage over a certain distance so you cant hit the enemy ... and yes I know how deceptive that is xD Had to use a pre made shooter setup but couldn't quite figure out how to modify the distance the shots can go in time sadly!
Oh and the voice overs are actually AI generated through play.ht , was happy with how they turned out!
The animation in this was superb and hilarious, thinking of all the call back's to anime series like evangelion made me chuckle a few times! The robot combat was a bit janky but overall the game as a whole and how well the story is told is incredible you guys made it in such a short time! It really felt like I was watching an anime! hahaa
awee thank you so much for the kind words Im glad you had fun with it 😊 and yeah the mech section is a bit janky, I wish there was more time to of worked on it but prioritised making it anime like!
Oh and I saw your game in the game jam stream last night but will have to play it myself later on! 😁
Yeah when it comes to action sections I always have a problem programming those, I really wanna try a more action oriented game some time, but man the decision to make ur game more anime style was great!
