Impressively solid RPG for a game jam! It seems appropriately hard and is clearly set in a very fleshed out world. I really liked the worldbuilding and it's always great to see jam submissions that feel like a cohesive game, which this one certainly does.
I'm astonished by the level of detail in the world and characters. I really appreciate how it gets you right in and let's you explore your way towards the goal.
The party selection had me thinking as well -- destiny intertwined, but with options -- I liked it a lot!
I'm a bit of a slow reader, so I focused on the combat mostly. It may just be the pokemon player in me, but I do wish that my characters were on the battlefield as well.
Thank you! I was considering different methods of displaying the characters as they attack, but I couldn't quite get a method that felt right with the battle animations. I'm glad you still liked it though!
Really good as ever! I love the branch of fate concept and being able to pick your first party member. I kept dying to the Four Wheelers though and don't have the right items so I'll need to try again but better prepared.
Thanks! Yeah, I made the Four Wheelers as the first real test of strength enemies, so no worries about them setting you back a bit!
Wow I have to say that really took me back. I'm 41 and grew up playing RPGs like that, I made such a n00b move at the start too. I went and purchased a helmet and then realised there are weapons ha ha then I had no $$ so got a beacon thinking I need to be able to get back up from somewhere, only to get 5 more at the bottom... face palm. I will play again, that's for that! It's really well put together, super smooth, polished and fun with everything working well together. I'm not trying to sabotage our project here but yours is better and solo to boot. I was using Corgi engine for the first time for ours, and we pivoted a week in as prototype testing feedback indicated it was needed, next time I'll have a lot more time to get the polish. Hats off to you!
Thank you! I'm glad the polish came through since I spent the entire first week just working on the visual assets to ensure a lot of quality and diversity to it. I hope the next game you make will have a chance for polish as well!
Thanks, yeah I can see you got things sorted early, makes such a big difference :)
Is always so fun to see an rpg in this jam, the story and setting are really interesting, I was enjoying going down to the earth, the game really builds up the momentum, great entry!
Thanks! I'm glad the momentum picks up. I'm still a bit worried I made the game overlong for a jam entry, but I'm happy it worked out overall!
Enjoyed the setting and story! The sprites are really well done
Thanks! The spritework was a focus for me early on so I'm glad they came out well.
The pixel art is pretty cool, and I appreciate the effort put into the story. Admittedly, it's not exactly my cup of tea, so I didn't manage to finish it. Nevertheless, considering it was made in just a 2-week jam, I must say, you did a decent job overall! Keep up the good work!
Thanks! I appreciate you trying it out even if it's not to your preferences!
Really nice to see this setting again, and the spritework has made quite a jump up from the first game :)
I really like the beacon system, it’s quite a good Q.o.l. thing to have to ease off exploration when you’re low on Hp and resources for your party.
I don’t know how long the game is but once again for a jam entry you’ve made quite a lot O_o that’s impressive, i’ve played for a while and the wasteland below seems huge, even if it’s a lot greener than i recall from the previous game XD.
Also really cool that there’s a savefile system, plus you kept the auto battles \o/
Overall cool sequel, well done :)
Thanks! I did primarily make a sequel to see how far I've come with my spritework in comparison to my first game, so I'm glad the differences are so noticeable!
