I think focusing on the skates, but providing a safety ground area, would make for a good larger game reminiscent of the Sonic Advance titles. Layer the levels. Not really a metroidvania and VERY wonky, but a good start.

This is a nice game that I enjoyed but it does feel a little more like a Sonic game than a Metroidvania game. With that in mind, though, it's really hard to see where you're going, perhaps a little *too* hard. if you're striving to do a more Metroid/Castlevania-y thing but with a Sonic vibe I think you probably would need to restructure for more of an interconnected-world vibe; this feels a little more like a 2D-ified Sonic Adventure level.

The music is nice and I enjoyed playing this game, but I can't call it a metroidvania.

I don't have much to add that others didn't say. I felt really out of control with the high speed and high jump, but it wasn't the end of the world. Having a short range attack didn't really work well alongside the high speed. The graphics and music were fine and the sound effects were good. I had a little choppiness at one point, but mostly it was fine. Since it was so short I don't have much else to say. Good luck with refining the gameplay!

the music was nice, same with the art

i liked the skating mechanic but when not skating the controls were extremely slippery and felt like id stick to walls sometimes, that was kinda clunky

the attack felt too close range and would run into enemies because of the slippery controls

still seems like a promising game overall, would like to see what it would be like with more levels

I liked the art style and music.  I did have a little trouble controlling the character and the rail-grinding was a little glitchy at times.  It killed my momentum a couple times where the jump to ground was a little short.  The first time I died, but the second I used the dash ability and was able to make it.  The game is definitely fun to play.  I agree with raptor, it might work better to just do a platform/racer where you can just speed through the levels with collectibles or ability upgrades?  Speeding around and rail-grinding is more fun than the fighting.

Nice work!  Can't wait to see more!

Great concept! The character was a little hard to control IMO. I few times I fell off the level and just stayed at the bottom of the screen and had to restart to keep playing.

If the player controls were tighter I could see the gameplay being pretty cool/

Very cool game! Not sure if I would call it a Metroidvania yet. That skating/grinding on rails mechanic is great though! I honestly think you might just want to make a platformer/racer game that focuses on that mechanic. It was so fun to hop on the rails and just go and then jump from rail to rail. Really loved the art and backgrounds too, very spacey and futuristic! The controls felt very very floaty, but like I said above once you get on the rails it is perfect.

Thank you for trying out our jams build and your constructive criticism! It's a rushed jams entry with some problems. There's so much to be improved. Expect much improvement and refinment of gameplay in our future update.
