I'd just like to know if I can make half the game before the jam actually starts and half of it when it does start, is that allowed? EDIT: I get it geez, I'm not gonna do it. +I flipped the idea to a pico8 game anyways so I'm gonna have to recode it anyways. But yeah, no one reply because this post is outdated ._.

A game jam is an event where participants try to make a video game from scratch. Depending on the format, participants might work independently, or in teams. The event duration usually ranges from 24 to 72 hours. Participants are generally programmers, game designers, artists, writers, and others in game development-related fields. Some game jams are contests, others are not.

Hipotetically you can, but your plans will be fliped out when the limitation gets revealed

Just don't do that, it's evil, and there is a special place in hell for people who do that.

Number one - I'm 90% certain that is against the rules. But it is not like anyone can know for sure if you started making the game beforehand. Just don't. Don't.  The whole point of a game jam is that you have a limited amount of time, if you have problem with making the game within the time, it is probably best you switch to a game jam with a longer time limit.

The rules says no!

If you want to, then yes.

But, there is a limitation that you have to use in your game. the game you may be making will not fit the limitation, so i would advise against it
