Awesome concept and definitely kept me entertained until the end. Also really impressed by how much content is here given the short amount of time.
Just to nitpick a few quality of life things, some others have already mentioned:
- For activating switches, it wasn't clear at first that you had to have your crosshair directly on the body of the switch for it to activate.
- It wasn't always obvious what some switches did. For example the switch at the top of the first tower in the outdoor area that opens up the next level.
- Movement physics, especially grapple hook, were a little hard to control. I did really enjoy the wall jumping though, and I was able to use that instead of grapple hooks for a lot of the sections.
I really like this game, very creative use of limitation, but it is a bit hard, maybe there should be some more easier levels to get used to the movement and grappling
quite difficult but it seems like it is a fun concept if it was fleshed out. maybe more handholding in the tutorial to teach the game to the play --but overall great job!
I agree with the description, but it was anyway fun to play and I was surprised how big this game finally is. I finally did not understand what to do after the first elevator then I glitched to an island with 1 enemy, but no way back, the water killed me, also grappling along the grid line did not work - tried hard. I would suggest to put now the focus on making existing features solid and enance player guidance. Would be great to see some updates on this.
Really like the weight to the movement but it could use a little more control. Easier said than done though.
Grapple hook felt fantastic but for me at least I am not very good at precise clicking so the power lines made it a little tricky.
Being able to infinitely jump up walls was super fun for me. I can see it breaking some puzzles.
Honestly great experience, all of my nit picks are small potatoes and the fact you made it 72 hours is very impressive.
cool game but it would be good if the tutorial went on by itself because i want to try out the new controls i learnt but still needing to click enter to learn more, kind of a hassle. but still very fun and feels good to play. nice interpretation of theme too! gj :)
Actually I think this game is really cool. I think the concept is really neat and makes it feel a little like a collectathon, and the quirks in the movement allow for some neat tricks you can preform that I think would honestly make it REALLY fun for speedrunning! I could see this being AMAZING if it was polished up and more was added to it! It's a little difficult to figure out what's going on at first but by the end I was preforming tricks and gathering powercores with the best of 'em. Also the fact it's on a POWER GRID and not on a literal grid like most other games might make it the best use of the theme in the jam lol
CreeperBob and I were joking during development about how speedrunnable the movement was, and we even debated adding a timer. We might throw that in a future update, along with a number of very needed bugfixes. And thanks, we are incredibly proud of our theme interpretation lol
This game was super hard. Like, really, frustratingly hard, Pressing F didn't always seem to work, and the player capsule kept sliding off of platforms.
BUT, maybe due to my nostalgia for Source Engine climb maps, I was compelled to finish it. Despite the janky controls this game was probably the most fun I've had from the submissions I've played so far. So, thanks.
And well done. 👍
I'm glad you beat it! Although I doubt you'll play the game again, there is a feature (albeit very hacky) that significantly increases your friction when you stop pressing WASD. Maybe in a future build I'll increase the interact distance; that seems to be a common issue (:
My problem is that I just can't sit still. 😅
Yeah, I recommend just whenever you show the "F" symbol to accept the input. Would make it more satisfying to grab stuff while grappling. I had to spam F like crazy to hit that switch on top of the tower.
Really cool! Love how you implemented the grid concept. Great work (:
I LOVED THIS GAME!
Even tho there were some minor issues like climbing walls if you walk towards them and jump, or some other small things, I really enjoyed this game. Props to you and your team, this was sooo greatttt :))
