For me, personally, it was a bit too much of story and cutscenes at the beginning. I am a fan of putting small story pieces into the game here and there instead of putting a bunch of story right at the beginning into the face of the player.

Besides that I was a great fan of the music choice and the thief topic. The mechanics worked nice. I was not sure, if there was a specific goal of the game? Like rob every location or reach a specific amount of money?

Developer

I appreciate the feedback. I agree that pacing needs an improvement. The goal was a simple score challenge; you get a different ending based on how much gold you have once every location is done. Of course I would've love to expand on this, and may have the chance to do so soon hopefully.

Thank you very much! This has been a very enjoyable game jam, lots of great games around!

Great job. But it wouldn't hurt to improve the balance.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Too easy or too hard? Balancing is one of those things that's really hard when working solo so I'm not surprised at all I didn't get it right.

do you really make all this in 3 days? looks like a lot of work..

Developer(+1)

It definitely was. Since this is my first game jam, I was definitely overly-ambitious with what I could do with the time I had, but decided to pull through as a learning experience. Boy, this thing ate my whole weekend.

Developer

Thank for the comments, I'm glad you liked it in spite of the texture issues. I've added the missing textures if you wanna give it another go, hopefully it won't get stuck again. Just in case, there's a different fight in every location if the timer reaches 0, the only game over is losing a fight!

Really neat game! Felt a lot more polished than I would normally expect from a game jam.

Developer

Really glad you liked it! A lot of effort went to it so I'm glad it turned out ok.

Fun and quite a lot of content for a game jam. It's an interesting mechanic that you have to get rid of all your items one way or another. It's an interesting way to solve a common problem of hoarding items in games. I eventually got stuck though on a fight with loading error failed to load img/animations/Hit1.png. Overall though it was pretty good, nice job!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, I screwed up some textures there, hopefully they're fixed now. I had a lot more content in the draft idea so you can imagine I learned quite a bit about scope here.

very cool game is really fun, I didn't think I would like an RPG Maker game so much

Developer (1 edit)

Glad you liked it! It's a cool engine with a very low entry bar, so it gets a bad rep I think.

yes, that's right, I would have to do something with it again XD

Hello! I just played this, and unfortunately I encountered a bug that forced me to abandon finishing it; when returning from the island in the port town, during the boss fight, when the snake lady attacks there is an error loading some image and the fight cannot progress.

Aside from that though, this was a quirky and fun experience, and it was nice to see something creative and unique squeezed out of RPGmaker that I personally haven't seen others do before. Good effort!

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed what you got to play at least! This was my first time compiling for a Web browser game so I definitely made a mistake there with the texture.

I'm curious to see if there's any resolution to the story being set up so i'll definitely give it another go after I play as many of the entries I can before voting is over!
