Good job on your first game jam! Just needs a little sound / music. Had fun playing.
Thanks for the feedback! I'm trying to learn how to make sounds and music, I'm not great yet, you got to start from somewhere though!
Good work! Especially for your first gamejam, and you can always go back and add new stuff! I like the number effect when you deal damage.
Perhaps the next thing to focus on is adding sounds!
Thanks! I plan on working on the game more in between other game jams, I have a few ideas I would like to add. I definitely do need to work on sounds, I have never really been good with them lol
Surprisingly, the camera made me dizzy :0
This is a good strat, keep going:D
+ cute bee^^
Thanks for the feedback! I definetly need to work on the camera, it is just the default one right now. I can see how it could be a problem, especially later into the game.
Pretty solid, only problem is that enemies don't scale with the player, so the player becomes too powerful quickly and it defeats all challenge.
The bees becoming completely inactive once you leave the room is a bit of a problem to since it makes it easy to cheese the game early on. If you can't fix that you can probably at least mitigate it by locking the player in the room while the enemies are alive, so the player can't move far enough away to deactivate the bees. Doing that might also help prevent a player from just running to the end. (Not that there's any reward to that though)
I do think the way you implemented the limitation was fairly unique. It could be expanded upon though to show that the tree is "alive". Maybe the tree has a health bar that acts as a timer, and if you don't kill all the bees you lose?
Thanks for all the feedback! I tried to make the enemies scale but it either broke or just doesn't work, and defense is just completely overpowered. The bees stopping wouldn't be the most difficult thing to fix but it could lead to crazy bugs, I'll try it out tho. I could probably do something that traps the player in the room. I also did think about a timer, maybe killing the bees increases the timer too?
Nice game ^^ I really like the concept of being inside a tree and fighting to save it (tho I'm a little sad that the enemies are bees because I like bees... but that's just a personal thing. You don't have to listen to that). I did find a little "bug" where if I let a bee chase me for a while she gets stuck in her box and I can attack from a safe distance while she stand there ^^'
Thanks for the feedback! I might change the enemies from bees because generally you don't find bees inside a tree, but I was in a rush and that was the first thing I could think of :/ The bees getting stuck is due to how I generate the enemies and how they chase the player. They are supposed to attack the player when you enter the room, but they stop when you enter a different room. I'm probably going to leave it how it is right now because my code is very janky and I don't want to ruin the game lol. I'm glad you enjoyed my game!
No worries! I did a quick google research ("tree parasites") and there seem to be a few variations of beetles that could fit (then you'd only have to change sprites if you do decide to change them) ^^
Nice game, I liked the attacking mechanism!
Thanks!
Fun concept, well done except the controls especially attacking that is a bit clunky
still great work, keep going !
Thanks! I will try to keep working on this game, there is a lot of polishing I still have to do!
It's good, I guess. For some reason, the camera breaks when I die. The combat is also not very good.
And the limitation is not used "the player is alive too" is not a justification, you need to be alive or undead to walk, not just dead.
I didn't have enough time to make a death screen so I just delete the character when it dies. I had to rush the combat a bit to get to the dungeon part. I tried to be creative with the limitations with the dungeon being a tree, and trees are alive. I wasn't sure what exactly to put in that section so I just wrote down everything that was alive. Thanks for the feedback!
Nice game, good job. There are a lot of visual bugs and, i dont why, but bees do
n't attack me, and hp booster takes damage)) Also the game needs some sound effect!
Health booster gives you more max health so it looks like you lose health. I didn't have enough time for sfx and I'm not good with them anyway lol.
