Well, this blowed my mind. I enjoyed trying to reach every future, and I liked graphics. It's interesting how the environmental and climatic change was combined with strategy. I hope to see more of ypur creations very soon! See ya.

Developer

Hi! I'm happy that you invested time trying to reach every possible future.  I hope you did reach them in the end! More games will be coming soon for sure! Thanks for your support!

Hey, congradulations on your game! I thouroughly enjoyed it!

We were going for a similar interpretation of "future" in our submission and your game mechanics (random tiles to choose from) reminds me of @necrosaint 's The Long Road submission (https://itch.io/jam/mini-jam-63-future/rate/763324) which I also enjoyed.

I think the rythm of the game is really good: fast but strategic and just long enough.

Figuring out the mechanics and discovering the 4 different outcomes gives it quite a bit of replayability (and the fact that you can see the outcome of your city makes it interesting to try to figure out what the proper ratios are). The 3 tile choice too helps randomize your play-through.

Esthetically the game is also verry pleasing, and the music quite soothing.

Well done. Thanks! :)

Cheers,

Hi! Thanks for the extensive review! Glad you found the rhythm of the game correct. It was hard to find what for me was the "sweet spot".

I played The Long Road and loved it! It reminded me of some of my favourite board games (Like a crossover of Dead of Winter with Eldritch Horror).

I loved your game too! At the beginning of the voting phase I saw it and said "F***,  this guy made the same thing as me!", but I played it and I was happy to find that it was a slightly different take on the theme. That fast forward mechanic to the future is great, and the pixelart style is very beautiful!

Thanks, we had a lot of fun designing it! I'm pretty happy about the art, I think the imposed color scheme worked out nicely. In termes of game play, we still have a little tweaking to do to find that "sweet spot". ;)

Looking forward to seeing future contributions of yours.

Interesting idea, but I couldn't understand what I was doing. I needed more information on the tiles. I like the music and graphics.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! I'll be sure to make an update when the voting ends in order to give more clues to the players.

Love the game art! It makes the game shine. It took me a while to figure out whats going on, but overall nice work!

Developer

Thanks cemizm!  I'm not an artist, so the fact that you like the art means a lot to me! I loved the artwork of your game too!

This game was quite beautiful, and I enjoyed the simple + relaxing gameplay. I was a little confused about which tiles would allow me to place more adjacent to them, but eventually figured it out after a couple restarts

Developer

I'm really happy that you enjoyed my game! Thanks for your positive feedback!

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!

I like the idea, and the graphics and sounds are really nice, good job ! In my opinion though the player needs more feedback in order to make meaningful decisions, right now we are pretty much left blind guessing about the outcome of what we are doing. Is that intended ?

Developer

Hi felixmariotto, thanks for your feedback! My original idea was to let the player figure out how to balance the tiles in order to get different outcomes, but I will be definitely be doing something about that. Maybe some tips at the end pointing the user to the right direction.

Great concept ! I had a lot of fun playing it. It is really different from the other games. I just wish it was longer :)

Developer

Haha, I should definitely make an "infinite" mode or something like that!

WHAT IS THE 4TH ENDING
I got underdeveloped, polluted, starved but I cannot figure out what the 4th could be.

My review,
I really love it, I wish I could move the camera around a bit to look at the landscape or be able to play this sim city style where the people try to make do with whatever they get given, maybe you get worshiped and that gives you divine power to make more land. The game is short and sweet and the short part is the part I don't like it's really good and really fun the music the ui and the feedback is on point. Having more intricate tiles and maybe things like adjacency bonuses where each tile has a different outcome. so houses that aren't surrounded by farms starve  and they have different appeal values, there really was a lack of effect from placing tiles and you could just whack them anywhere from what I could tell.

Overall a really solid game with a bit more content and a few more features.

Wow! Thanks for taking the time for making a so extensive review!

The 4th ending (The Brighter Future Outcome) is the most difficult one to get (although many would argue that the result is not what one would call "a bright future" :P) . To get it, you must find the perfect balance between industrialisation and nature, while keeping the population well fed. It's not an easy task because the tile deck gives you little margin for error.  One of the improvements I have in mind is to give the player some tips on the polluted and starvation outcome, in order to help them to get to the other two more difficult ones.

You can move the Camera, but I totally forgot to mention it in the description or to add something in the game so the people would know!!!  To do this you can use the ARROW KEYS (At least I'm going to add it to the description, thanks for pointing this out).

I'm glad that the fact that the game is too short was the thing you didn't like. It gives me hope that the game could be expanded into something more. The proximity effect that you mention came to mind at some point in the development, but I wanted to keep it simple for this prototype (But it would surely improve the game).

I'm really glad that you enjoyed it!

I think you may have mixed some things up. For instance, I got the "polluted" future when I placed too many farm tiles.
