I honestly enjoyed this game. I like the idea of how you interpreted the theme of wisdom and the gameplay was fun and challenging. The tileset and variety of the art used here too was quite impressive as well.

A few bugs I found were when you put the crate on the buttons, it sometimes continuously repearts the button sound throughout the game.

When I use the left and right arrow keys, I can legit drag the moving platforms across to me or away from me. I don't know if you intended this but it was quite funny XD.

Overall, awesome game entry and it was really fun!

This is sooo good! I love how the dojo looks. It has a simple but effective color scheme, and such an interesting and varied set of patterns. The controls are smooth and the level design is excellent--I felt like a 10-year-old playing Mega Man 2 for the first time. The 5 health points are suitably forgiving, given all the puzzles you have to solve. Also, the old teacher's jokes are pretty funny.

My one complaint is that it is possible to "soft lock" the game by pushing a box into the wrong place. This actually happened to me a few times, and it is annoying because there is no way to proceed unless you can get to some spikes and kill yourself.

Also, I encountered a bug on the last level. I took a hit that should have killed me, but the game got stuck instead, so I didn't get to see the ending. :(

I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you hit the "R" button the level will restart. I put that in there just for that reason because I too would push a block to the wrong place. On the last level, was it boxes falling on you and you being stuck inside the box? Thais one thing I haven't been able to fix just yet.

Good to know that. Please post the controls on the game page for everyone to see! :)

First time I played earlier today I encountered a bug where the sound of a button kept looping. Drove me insane and had the return later in the day lol.

Didn't encounter the bug then, and once I experienced the game I really liked it. The art and gameplay were on point. The biggest complaint is just that transitions are too slow. The fade ins/outs really drag, as do the cutscenes. Also encountered a bug where the platforms can be moved by the arrow keys, which sometimes break the game.

Developer(+1)

Well I'm glad the sound issue resolved itself.  I have my scene transitions down to 5 seconds total. 2.5 fade in - 2.5 fade out. I feel like any faster would be to abrupt but I will experiment with different time settings. I made the cutscenes as short as possible with regards to how other peoples reading speeds vary. I feel like they were too fast. The platform issue is not actually a bug, i just forgot to turn off default controls for those, oops.  Thanks for  playing and giving great feedback :D

I might be an impatient guy, but I'd  cut down the amount of text in the cutscenes(I'm a less is more kinda guy) or provide an option to skip.

Fun little game! I love the witty dialog between the levels. I also really enjoy the run animation of the character. Great job doing so much yourself!

Developer

Thank you very much :D

Really awesome entry, man, truly hilarious dialogs and the levels feels good, the art is really nice and the music is great,  I saw that you composed it,  great work! my favourite switches are the green ones, pure dynamism :3, the only thing i can get a bit critical is that the use of the limitation isn't very original, but man, this game is great.

Developer(+1)

Thanks Elvendwarf! I should've know the first idea i had would be the most common one, but oh well i guess maybe next time I'll have the original idea :D  thinking outside the box is hard when you are the box  :/

I cant  seem to push the first box to the left it only goes right. Is there something im missing?

Developer

No it should definitely go either direction.  I will look into it though,  thank you.

It seems that the problem was that i was using the arrow keys to control the character. Works fine with A and D. Great game and graphic

Developer

OH ok lol!

very cool concept, a bit buggy in some spots but great overall gameplay. really liked the darkness mechanic.

Developer

Thanks! Glad you liked it. If possible, could you elaborate on what bugs you found?

Submitted(+1)

Sorry buggy is not the right word. The movements didn't feel very smooth especially the jumping.

Developer

Understood. Yeah I was a bit weary of it. I will adjust.
