Team members
Art, Code - EquippedHats, also known as ScarfRavenStudios.

Software used
Godot 3.3, Aseperite, and some minor Paint dot net

Use of the limitation
I tried to go for an "you can only upgrade yourself when you die" thing, but I'm not sure how it turned out. The world is also shown continuing and remembering your actions in the HUD display.

Cookies eaten
Sadly, none. I planned on eating some but I was too focused on the game.

Absolutely LOVE your sprite work! Especially for the main character. The overall presentation is really nice and I can really imagine it on a older handled system.

If i HAD to give any negative feedback I'd say it would benefit from some more user feedback for certain actions, for example adding a hit or shake animation to buildings to react to the player that they hit the building, it just requires more damage to break.

there's the obvious lack of sound, however as someone who actively forgets sound too i cant fault you for this as it can often be overlooked when you're focused on development.

I do genuinely think this project really hits the mark aesthetically and think you've done a great job ! Would love to see this expanded on in the future.

Thanks for the review! I agree, I'd love to work on this again in the future and fix/add a lot of the things I had to skip over or not implement due to the deadline - audio and player feedback, for starters.

Game is so polished and graphics is cool!

I really liked the experience and the gameplay, it would be better with some extra feedback elements such as putting sounds or some extra animation, but in general the game is quite entertaining

It was honestly a blast to play. Could bump up the rate at which enemies spawn early game + add some visuals for buildings' HP going down (e.g. cracking) to make it feel even more satisfying. Either way, it's the true kaiju experience ^^

This was super fun to play and I am really digging the art style, amazing job. Some retro sound effects would really improve the gameplay experience if you had more time to work on it! The only issue I had was the game window size seemed kind of strange and I had to scroll a lot, but I'm on a laptop so that may be why. Great work!

Cool graphics. I liked that it was black and white like an old godzilla movie

This is really fun and I love the art style! The top is cut off at the default display size but that could just be because I have a small laptop. Other than that I have no complaints :)

Good game my game:

this was fun, and i love the greyscale palette!

my only complaints are, it’s strange what set of actions is mapped to the controller (attacks, but not movement or jumping) and, i’m not sure if it’s just my browser, but there was no sound for me

oh and also my laptop screen isn’t tall enough to see both the info at the bottom and the scrolling text at the top at the size itch wants to display this at

Thanks for the review! Most of the concerns you have are because I ran out of time to add music or test controller support, sadly.

yeah, all good! that’s the fun of a game jam, what can you make in a short time, and you’ve made something very fun! i didn’t want to quit until i’d fully maxed out everything :3
