How is your game related to the Theme and Special Object?
The theme of the jam was "Loop", and the special object a pickaxe. My idea of a loop was generations of a family mining (w/ pickaxe passed down) here and dying here.
There is no end state, the King always needs more.

Very interesting interpretation of the theme! None of the other games I've played so far made me think like this one. Just wish there was a little bit more to the gameplay itself
As the previous comment said, the theme implementation is really good and thoughful and is the best aspect of the game. I won't write more about it as the previous comment hits it perfectly.
The mining doesn't really have any gameplay meaning except clearing the way, but with the theme it works. You could have made the resolution a bit larger as I zoomed in the browser to see the game better.
I don't know how much you have worked on games outside of this game jam, but for this being your first one, you did good. You could try some longer lasting jams where you could implement better your creative vision, but learning by doing is the best.
All in all, your game hits different. Good job!
I have done a few unity tutorials just simple follow along types, but I also program in my day job so have the benefit of being familiar with C# at least, just not the unity related side of things.
Also if I had more time I was going to make the text at the beginning change more based on both what loop number it was, AND how much the previous player character mined. Just couldn't find the time.
Thanks for your compliments though.
This is a really thoughtful take on the theme. I was really surprised that something as small as seeing the graves from previous loops changed how I play. Superstition kicks in and you think you can change the outcome but it always ends up the same. Thank you for making this (:
Your comment hits it perfectly.
