Neat! Is this sponsored by Nard VPN? :P Had a good time clicking, would be nice in the future to see even more viruses attack you from more direcitions (unless I didn't get far enough :D)
Yeah, I couldn't figure out how to make the game harder as time passed, but I realized the game was more of an endurance test, to see how long you can go without messing up
cool concept at first but felt pretty repetitive quickly + my hand started to hurt lol, will replace my Kovaak’s aim training with this hehe.
but other than that a great submission, it’s a full working game with a high score and everything, good job!
Very nice, I like the visual effects of the virus. How was it made?
I made a sprite with 3 frames that looked like a virus and programmed the game to clone them a bunch
only 3 frames? But it looks too smooth! That's fantastic. I even thought you used a lot of mysterious hacker rendering code to make it look like the special effects from The Matrix.
I just made an object that makes a bunch of clones of another object. That's basically how. It's a pretty simple thing to make
Good entry :v keep practicing and you will be making great games for sure
Very cool concept! Addicting gameplay; i kept wanting to play. Nicely done!
Good game but difficult
full points for not even being to move. only shoot.
The idea is simple (in fact too simple), done somewhat okay.
Is too simple a bad thing? (I don't want to sound annoying, I'm just trying to learn more about game jams since this is my first one)
cool as a first entry!
In my opinion, games feel more engaging when there are a multiple game mechanics that interact with each other. It's a bit more challenging with this jam, since the theme was One Ability. For example, VPNs could bounce off the wall, cloning themselves in the process, unless they hit hacks before. So as a player, there would be an option for me to shoot directly at the hacks (which is currently your only option), OR you could shoot at a wall, to have more VPNs on the board later.
But, you don't want to have too much stuff going on. I think the right balance is when there is enough complexity for the player to be able to make a meaningful choice between multiple approaches, but it's simple enough that it's the choices are obvious and can be easily kept track of.
Edit: Also, it's not universal. Some games are more about skill, they just challenge the player with a task, that the player needs to do fast/precisely, without much choice at all. If the task itself is fun to do, that that can also be a good game, with little complexity.
Ok, thanks!
