How is your game related to the Theme and Special Object?
Our game embodies the theme of "failure" by resetting players to the start each time they stumble, encouraging resilience through repeated attempts. The special object, a tomato, is integral to the experience, driving the narrative as players navigate challenges to achieve their goal of reaching the "tomato soup."

I was pretty good, I was caught off guard by the bouncing on my corpse and even more so that the knives only did damage when they were falling. I died countless times and what I got out of it was that I liked the jump, it felt good since it wasn't very high but the corpse gave a lot of play by allowing me to jump more and matching the jump with the bounce was definitely interesting. I would like maybe some clear way to explain when the knives do and don't do damage but at gameplay level very entertaining. Main theme 10/10, I didn't get tired of playing it and the aesthetics were good enough for what I expected. Good game, there are always things to improve but from start to finish I thought it was pretty good.

Cool little game

Pro's

  • I love that the concept of failure is implemented by being able to self destruct in order to progress further
  • The graphics were awesome
  • The SFX's were spot on

Cons

  • The jump was very floaty, I made the same mistake on my first platformer. I highly recommend you look into "Game feel" or at the very least Gravity for platformers.
  • The game needed more playtesting!  Also another mistake on my first platformer, I made it too hard! Although I was able to complete it as the Dev, it was a struggle for the players. We often forget at dev's that we are going to be better at the game because we know the upcoming threats, we are fully aware of the mechanics and how to take advantage of them

I feel that if you focus on those two con's for your next platformer, it will be 10 times better. I know mine was after I researched and implemented those aspects.

Developer

It's really true, thanks for the review, I will try to improve myself in these things :)

I like the idea of your dead body staying in place, perhaps helping you later on. The graphics were cute!

The game is a bit frustrating (because you restart from the beginning a lot) but quite charming, and the physics are fun to play with! Well done
