Great job! The idea is very cool, the atmosphere conveys that Inscription-like feeling very well. The art and sounds fit together nicely, and everything looks very polished.

I found a way to optimize the game which is to do runs only with money cards: I start a run and only use money cards which I use to upgrade the money cards and repeat the process 2 or 3 times. Doing this, I get the necessary money to improve all the cards and win easily. Perhaps it would be necessary to nerf the money cards or put a penalty when you die to avoid doing this.

Unfortunately, I encountered a bug and couldn’t continue with my game. Here’s a screenshot of the bug in case it can help you fix it.

It seems the game shows that there are 2 enemies left to defeat, but their cards never appear and it doesn’t let me place mine on the board.

Despite everything, great work, congratulations!

THANK YOU so much for the support and the kind words, it really means a lot :) So glad to hear you enjoyed the game and like the concept.

Apologies to hear about the bug you ran into, I would love to be able to carry on with the concept and fix up the lingering issues and expand on the concept.

I suspected the Cash Cards might be a bit game breaking with the current setup, but I wanted to keep it that way to have it there for people discover and then find an easier way to get to all the upgrades and get the gist of the prototype a bit quicker and easier to experience all of the facets, but for a final version I would def tweak the Cash Cards a bit.

Thanks again so much for the compliments and the feedback, I truly appreciate it. Will let you know if I get to be able to carry on with this concept :)

I'll admit that I didn't end up getting to the ending for this jam entry. This is mainly due to a few glitches I encountered during my attempts to finish it (such as "invisible" card enemies you can't attack or the game not loading when you skip through too much text). Still, this is a really cool game. I really enjoyed the use of coloring and low poly(?) visuals. I also found the gameplay quite innovative, though I'm not sure how I feel about death being essentially forced in order to progress. Also, I have no clue what the blue cards are meant to do. With just a bit of tweaking and bug fixing, this game could be better. As it is now, however, I find it pretty good.

Thanks so much for the kind words and the support, I truly appreciate it. Apologies to hear about the bugs and glitches you ran into. If I am able to concentrate on this concept further I would love to be able to fix them up, expand on the idea and push it to it's full potential. Thanks again so much for the support and the feedback, it truly means a lot :)
