The orientation flipping was disorienting, but didn't matter that much. The combat was difficult, but I beat it because I found a bug, if you stand still in the fight, you can hit the enemy monke twice, he will try to continue to move towards your position and stop shooting bananas, at this same time, you can attack any more, you reposition yourself and do the same thing again until you beat it. It was very fun, and also felt nostalgic haha.

Developer

pro tip - the bananas don't do anything :)

Found out only after a my second run. It was all a ruse then hahaha

The plot and writing was amazing. It was a bit weird that the orientation flipped when transitioning to a new map

Amazing first game! I really enjoyed it. Obviously a few things can be worked on but im sure you know what that is already. I love the gameboy and i love games like this so seriously great job! Final monkey boss took me 3 trys to beat and i really appreciated the checkpoints. also the turn in the game with the new music to match caught me off guard and i loved it!

I killed the evil monkey boss !! struggled a bit to find the interact key at the start... (it wasn't 'A' on PC keyboard it was 'Z' & 'X'). The music was unsettling at first but then i noticed it was by design, as the the theme was creepy ~  GJ!

Developer

the controls are designed to be played on a gameboy/hand held emulators. I forgot to explain that in the description. Also Im no music composer.

Ohh, I actually enjoyed the music it fit the mood  of the story <3

Note, I played on mobile which may have affected the game a bit. But, overall pretty good, the story had a nice flow until the black monkey showed up, and then the story wasn’t explained well. The fighting system was weird and seemed janky, but I was able to get to the final boss (was unable to beat it, but hey) this may be an example of the effect where devs assume others will play their game as well as they can. (I have run into trouble with this myself lol). I like the art, but the music is very weird… out of context the music would be very bad, but to redeem it a bit is that it somewhat fits the game.

Developer

with the limitations of the gameboy i wanted to make the story and game play very simple. Also i we know conner is not big on the story in games. I was not going to add music at first but then i thought i should make something. Im not a composer Yes it is bad

That is fine and makes sense, I myself made a game more fit for CDawgVA and his fans than an actual game too.

Love it that it was made with GB Studio and I could (in theory) play it on my (non existing) own gameboy :D
