Wacky game! I included it in my Movie Game Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to check it out! :)
As soon as I saw this entry, I proper LOL'd - what an AMAZING idea! :D
I love this scene in BIG, so couldn't wait to play it.
It's hard, granted (I only managed to get ONE sequence right!)
But the overall idea, presentation and execution is really cool.
Perhaps someone more musically-inclined can get further than I did.
Congrats and good luck! :D
a fun concept and really awesome tie to a fav movie of mine, not really a game though, needs some element of challenge, skill, winning and losing. Fun stuff and a nice toy/experience! I will come back and play again since after reading some comments I feel I missed something key to the game.
I like the cut-out graphics style, and I think the premise is really good. Would have liked to have the camera from the other side so left to right was low to high. Also would be nice if the person's foot always landed on the note they were playing. Finally, for the response game, I think it would be good to start out a bit slower. I found that one really challenging! Nice work.
Nice idea! Rather hard for me, because I don't play piano, but that's my fault I guess :) I like the cutout animations too! I don't really know anything you could improve. Only some challenging tasks would be cool, but that's fine!
If you have time, it would be cool, if you could check out our submission too! Just like you, we still need some feedback ;)
As Tom, almost every key just plays C# for me, except P, [, ] and ; I think it was. All the notes worked as Robert. As such, I couldn't really play the call and response mode. Fun idea though, and I really liked the cutout animations.
Which platform are you on? Maybe the Godot builds are a bit hit-or-miss, although I can't understand why it would mess up the input - unless you have an unusual keyboard or system locale? Thanks anyway for giving it a go.
MacOS 10.13.2 (High Sierra). It's an Irish keyboard, so it is still QWERTY and all that, but I could switch to a different layout and try again if you think that would help?
Ehhh.... I tried it again without making any changes and it worked fine! I got one of the eyes to light up!
It's anybody's guess. I developed and tested it on a Macbook with 10.11 so I'm not sure why there would be an input problem. Still, there are probably better games here for you to spend your time on.
As a hobbyist piano player I really enjoyed it. It was somewhat confusing to use the keyboard in reverse, with the high pitch notes on the left and it took me a bit of time to get used to it. Thankfully, you included the sections with a single note that help orient myself. In the end, this was an oddly engaging game and I spent way more time on it than initially anticipated. I must say that it would probably have been better to get your own assets and perhaps disconnect a bit from the source scene... But that's just an opinion. Nonetheless, the cutout animations are really good and add to the feel of the game. Overall it's a very satisfying game. I very much enjoyed getting any sequence right. But unfortunately I could not finish the game.
As a final note... Don't give up on Godot so easily.
