Team Finding

Making a game all by yourself can be a daunting task. Joining a team helps make the workload manageable and connects you with other people who share the same interests. If you're looking to team up with other people for this jam, here's the place to do it!

Looking to create a team for your game concept? Post a pitch!

Say you've got a great idea for a game but you need some help accomplishing it. Here's your chance to pitch your idea to other jammers! Bear in mind that the bullets below are not rules but suggestions for what to include in your post in case you're not sure where to start. If you are someone looking to join a team, skip to the section below.

  • Introduce yourself! Include any basic information you wish for people to know. I.e., Name, timezone, pronouns, etc. Or go all out and give your entire life philosophy; it's up to you!
  • Your game concept! It doesn't have to be fully thought out and realized— your team is there to help you flesh out ideas. However, it's best to have a working idea of your game ideas and goals so it's easier to find people to fulfill the roles you need. Images may help get your ideas across, so don't be afraid to use them!
  • What skills you have/roles you need filled. Say you know how to code, but need art assets, or vice versa. This is where you describe what kind of skills you have and need so others can apply to be a part of your team. Include stuff you know how to do, kind of know how to do, and are willing to learn.  Also include engines or programs (for any use, be it art, music, game dev, animation, etc) and languages you are familiar with or specifically require.
  • Preferred method of contact. Communication is one of the most important things in a team, so having a clearly established method of correspondence in your post is essential. We suggest creating a group discord server for ease of organization, but do whatever works best for you.
  • Other stuff! Anything else you need to let others know, or anything you'd like to say! If you need ideas, consider communication styles, schedules, non-game goals, level of polish, etc.

Looking to join a team? Reply to a pitch!

Below each post, there is a small reply button that looks like this.

If you see a pitch that interests you, hit reply and follow up with your skillsets, maybe a portfolio, programs and tools you're familiar with, and contact information. It's that simple!

Team Tips & Tricks

  • Communication is key! If you have concerns, frustrations, stress, other commitments, it is your responsibility to inform your team so they can help resolve the issue or accommodate. Most of these tips can probably be summarized as communication.
  • Can't do your part? Tell your team. If you have real life obligations, let your team members know so they can either lessen your work load or find someone else to help out.
  • Stay focused! Working together can be fun, but make sure you get things done! This is especially tricky for teams who know eachother well; sometimes the camaraderie can be a distraction.
  • Set clear, manageable goals. This helps everyone stay on the same page and facilitates productivity.
  • Dealing with stress/illness? Putting this one here for myself since I have this issue as well. If you have a history of health problems, whether it is physical or mental, please be up front about it. No one will blame you for needing to take it easy!
  • Use productivity apps/ file sharing sites! There's a plethora of resources for effective team/file management. Google Drive, Dropbox, Slack, and Trello are just a few of them. A list will soon be added here for anyone who wants to give them a whirl.
  • Again: file sharing. Mentioned in the point above, but important enough to warrant its own point. Using a file sharing service like Dropbox enables everyone to work on the same things at the same time as well as allow real-time updates. An artist can stick assets into a shared folder, thus allowing the programmer to instantly access it. Making changes is much easier too. Highly recommend teams do this!
  • Frustrated with your group? Nothing is perfect. Even with people you get along with, you're bound to have conflict. Keep a cool head and remember: even terrible game jam experiences have value. Be willing to carry on and don't give up!

Hi! My name is Tony and I’m from Norway (GMT+1).

Im a Music Produser & Sound Designer. Currently in studies of Music Design.

This is my first game jam and I want to contribute my knowledge and skills into a game. I also wish to learn about game design (Currently going through Unity tutorials beside music studies). But most importantly, I want to meet new friends/colleagues that I can work with in the future!

I use Logic Pro and I am familiar with FMod for implementation of music/sounds, but not so much about its programming side (coding).

I can work and experiment with music in all genres but specialise in orchestral/cinematic music. However, I’m very open-minded for all types of games since experience is what I need.

Favourite games are (lots of JRPGs):

  • Final Fantasy Series (7, 10, 13, 14)
  • Kingdom Hearts series
  • Tales of (Series)
  • Dota 2
  • Zelda Series

Just wondering if you need a composer for this game jam. Maybe have a chat on Discord if possible? my discord is Trixter#1857

Kind regards,

Tony

Hello, Iam Petr Hampl (21Yo) and Iam from Czech Republic (GMT +1) Iam actively programming in Unity for more than a year now.  I also can make some simple 3D models.  Also my friend will be participating with me, he will most likely do Audio or art if needed.

As for what game we will be creating. We are still not sure and will see if someone will come up with some interesting idea or until theme will be revealed. Only thing I know is that it will most likely be 3D game as I enjoy making 3D more than 2D.

In this Jam I mainly want to meet more people who are interested in game development so we could help each other out in the future. So we will be glad if you are willing to join us in this game Jam and hopefully we will be able to cooperate in future again.

Also dont worry about your skill level, even if you are a beginner we will gladly welcome you so we can enjoy this jam together. And if you are programmer or composer even though we have those 2 roles "filled" you can still join us.
So if you are willing to join us contact me on discord:  FFZ MlekonCz#4233

Hello, im Aidan mcdonald i know some untiy c# but have only done 2d, id love to join your team if yopu have space :) add my discord aidan1771#7856

Hi! I'm Andrey, and I'm from Russia (currently in NJ, United States, which is GMT -5).  Before anything, you should know I tend to be anti-social, anxious, introverted, and pretty bad at conversations. I am learning to program in c++ but I am also a newbie sound designer. This isn't my first game jam, but I never finished my previous ones because I procrastinate a lot and can never bring myself to finish the project. I am not at all good enough to help program your game but I can provide the sound effects!

You should know a couple things about me before you work with me. Firstly, you should know that, again, I tend to procrastinate sometimes, so that may be a problem in the game jam (but I'll try to fight it!). I also can't get into a voice chat because I don't feel comfortable with talking and the state of my microphone won't let me, but we can still chat in messages on discord. I can generally work on the game jam on weekdays from 16 EST (4pm) to 19 EST (7pm), so basically 3 hours a day because of school and my life. But on weekends, I can work the whole day, from about 9 am EST to maybe 19 EST (7pm).

I'll make your

  • Sound Effects (mostly 8 bit)
  • Pixel art (in a pinch, though I am horrid at it)
  • Story if needed

For my first time in a team!

Thanks, AndyDev (Andrey)

note: message me on discord (add me, I am andyy#4229, or reach to me on the MFGJ discord server, I made a post on this in the #teamfinding chat) if you want to work with me!

Hi all,  i'm Pierre-Antoine, 23 and i'm currently GMT +0. I'm a calm person with some team work experience (from my cloud developer job).

I'm currently learning Unity while i'm a little bit used to programming.  Apart of this Jam i'm working on my own first game and i'm looking for challenges and experience but on top of that i just want to learn how to work in team.

I'm looking for passionate team that would like to build or polish the video game concept through brain storming sessions. Also, i'm kinda used to create concept,  create chara-design and story telling but i really struggle with 2D animation and modelling, Unfortunately i can tell from my past experiences that i don't have good taste with sound and music.  In other terms,  i'd like to work with a sound designer and a graphic designer but i'll welcome anybody that want to improve seriously.

I also engage myself to help my team the better i can in terms of learning and project.

I don't have a preferred method of contact, we'll chose according to the team will.

Also, feel free to reply if you are a "Learn & Go" adept.

Hi Pikachu68!

I'm currently studying Creative Music Technology at uni. One of my tutors has suggested that I do some game jams and thinks that I'll enjoy it. So I'm here wanted to try my first GameJam and meet some cool people. I make a whole variety of music and for a game, I could contribute with sound effects, soundscapes and music.

I believe that I'm good at working within a team and I'm definitely keen to have fun and take it seriously at the same time.

I'm also in GMT +0

Let me know if you're interested in working together :D

Hi I'm Nathan 32, and currently working in GMT, I am an experienced team leader however I am new to game design.

I am a writer and an author, but my passion has always been video games so I am here to learn and combine them both.

My game concept is pretty simple as it's our first game, It will be a virtual choose your own adventure to focus on storytelling. That way the programming will be simple,  the art can be 2d and as simple or as complex as we want and it allows us to still come up with a game depending on if we have 0 experience or above.

Here are other members I am looking for:

  • I would prefer to use Unity, so someone who understands how unity works for programming
  • 2d artist, for character art (there will be no animation - think "Kyle is famous" style of game)
  • Then some nice to haves would be voice actors or audio etc.

If this sounds of interest then send me a message, we can convene on discord, we can have a brainstorming session to begin with as a team about how you envision the game and what we individually want to achieve out of it, and then hopefully we can pull something great off.

Feel free to message me for more information.

Nathan

Hello! I'm an illustrator who likes to draw cute creatures and plants. I only do standard 2d art not pixel and prefer to work with cute themes juxtaposed with darker plots. Heres a link to my portfolio https://sugarbeetle.com/

Name: Sugar

Pronouns: she/her

Social media/website: https://sugarbeetle.com/ (social media links on website)

Dev expertise (or what you're interested in learning!): I adore character design, making stories and plots based around interesting themes. I've always wanted to make a game but I'm awful at programming so its never worked out.

Favorite games/media: I adore a lot of games from different genres, such as darkwood, cavestory, steam world dig, ni no kuni, deadstate, inscryption and many more. I enjoy interesting gameplay elements as well as experimental visual language. I also have a soft spot for survival horrors but I don't think my work can be horror related

Introduction/Tell us about you: I'm a 21 year old illustration student in my last year and before I begin my career in the industry I want to explore things I've always wanted to do but have been too pessimistic to attempt. I like plants, cute stuff and cute scary stuff.

I'm looking for a team so feel free to dm me if you'd be interested in working together!

I wasn't sure where to dm you but I did it through Twitter! I'm a programmer, let me know if you're interested!

Hello All,

My name is Ali from Canada, PST ( https://www.instagram.com/playougames/) .  I'm very much new to the world of game development. Basically for the past couple of years, I've been spending time to learn the basics with C# and Unity. During the day, I'm a Senior Animator for movies, but after work I try to get some time into my own game development journey.

What i hope to bring to the table :

Solid AAA quality Animation for games and features

  • Good knowledge of Unity
  • Expert in Maya/ Animation
  • Comfortable creating art assets in 3D/2D

Favorite Games:

  • Side scroller, Celeste, Super Mario, Meatboy....
  • COD, Warzone...
  • Overcooked...

I hope to collaborate with other fellow developers here.

Thanks

Ali

Wassap all.

I can help some team if needed, i have lot of free time, so hit me up if needed

SOUP.
I'm based in the UK (GMT) and looking to join / put together a team of preferably noobish devs who want to push out their first jam or firstish project. I can work after the hours of 7pm most nights thanks to running the fams business but I'm easy to rope in for odd jobs at any time really. The way I see it, a solid crew is going to need sound, programming, graphics and design so a team of 4+ would be ace.

My offerings to the altar are:

  • 3D modelling, rigging, animating, texturing assets in blender in a low poly style is wicked fun and what I studied at uni before I bailed
  • 2D pixel art and sprite animation plus knowledge of creating sexy tilesets in tilesetter for 2D level design
  • A verrrry beginner knowledge of gamemaker studio (but I have the expensive lifelong licenses for exporting to consoles because I'm an OG!)
  • I know how to launch unity
  • I have childlike creativity for great ideas that are do-able and definitely not "it's an open world survival craft, but with an elf hunter lady!"

Tasks that make my knees weak and I desperately need help with are:

  • Sound of all kinds.  Because making SFX with audition and a phone mic using distorted mouth sounds is no good. I will write the theme tune and sing the theme tune though if required.
  • Programming. You wizards, teach me and I'll buy you coffee.
  • Level design. I used to be ace at making race tracks with barrels in halo forge but thats ya wack.

You won't regret signing me up coach, I promise. I also used to run the NCL game jam meetup before I got roped back into hardcore work life so I play well with others. I do take the jam quite seriously though and don't like messing around too much. A man who likes a plan. Oh and SERIOUS brownie points if you have the same absolute chubby for Haunted PS1 games right now.

Hi, I don't have much experience doing SFX but if you need a Composer I have experience writing a range of genres and thoroughly enjoy blending Electronic synthesis with Organic/Orchestral elements. Would love to gain experience making some unique Music for whatever Game you create for this Jam!

Hello! I am interested in becoming a game designer. I have participated and finished a game jam by myself in the past, but I am looking to build a portfolio, so I'm interested in working in a larger team so I can make a better quality product this time around!

I have game design skills, as well as programming skills. I'm currently learning Artificial Intelligence (my final paper's theme is on voice conversion specifically), so I have some skills in that regard too. For this game jam, I don't have a particular game idea I want to work on, so I'm willing to join a team with their own ideas already. Of course, I'll be sure to give my own input if I think it will contribute to the team!

My discord is: Didogaosilva#4886.

I'll also check this topic from time to time! I'm especially interested in teams that already have 2+ members, so if that's the case for you, feel free to contact me!

EDIT: Oh, it's probably relevant that my current job is as a Graphic Designer. So I'm used to working with software tools like Corel Draw and Photoshop. If any artists need some backup with their work, I'll probably be able to provide!

Hi didogaosilva, I sent a message for discord, Are you interested in teaming up? , I am a programmer and I know to use unity.

Hello! I'm pretty good at making 3D models. I can make the environment without animation. I just started learning and would like to do something for the team and not just for myself. I'll be waiting for your response, thank you all.

Hello there, I’m Bartek, from Poland. I work as a technical writer and also write science fiction after hours.

I’m making a little point-and-click game about a broken space station. I’m not really in need of a team, but I could use a helping hand with music - ideally, I would need a background music theme that fits well with a slow-paced, space stuff.

I don’t use discord. If anyone had some spare time to check out the game and see if they might want to contribute, that would be really nice.

Hi, my name is Axel, I'm 17 years old, I live in Mexico, I know a little English, I know how to program and I'm learning to use Unity, I like music, but I don't know how to compose it, drawing and animations are difficult for me, I specialize more in the subject of coding and the use of the unity engine, especially in 2D games.

I need:

  • artist
  •  musician
  •  another programmer

but also if someone is interested in adding me to their team I would accept their invitation.
