Such a lovely outside-of-the-box idea and a very fun game :)

Thanks, I'm glad you had fun!

Interesting concept and good execution! Never seen a game like this before!

Thinks I liked:

* Love the inclusion of IRL elements like the physical book, drawings, and audio

* Very impressed with the length and complexity of the story.

Things that could be improved:

* The rock dodging mini game feels a bit too easy. Maybe you can increase the speed or quantity of the rocks.

* If you click your mouse while inside a game it will start the dialogue at the end of the mini game close the mini game.

Thanks for the feedback and the bug report! I'll be sure to get that fixed post-jam. The dodging games aren't really supposed to be too hard but the algorithm that places the obstacles isn't very smart, either. Planning to patch that, too. Glad you enjoyed it!

I think this is unexpected enough to rank very high in the end :). I really enjoyed it :)

What did I like:

  • The concept and the effort put into this. I am a huge fan of self mage sounds (as can be seen here ^^ https://rubikow.itch.io/tetrs) but adding self filmed footage to it lifts that to a new level :). Also it is not just making some drawings and filming the pages. The text and some graphics are added afterwards. There are multiple choices for dialogues and there are 2 minigames built into this lovely story. That really is something. Again the placement and kind of self made sounds was fantastic too. Great job.
  • The story. It is basically a story of a frog prince (hmm, that sounds oddly familiar ... nevermind) but in a completely different way. The characters are all very likeable and I do like that there is no bad step mother or the like in here. Plus: The characters are believable in what they do and why. World building and lore are nicely placed within the story. We know there have to kingdoms here. We know that there is the classical difference between the high born and the lower ones. Funny enough there are some frogges living in there too which can read books and sell paper and some monsters so it's also kind of a magical fairy tale world. That all is sold in a within the narration. I love that.
  • The art style fits the overall fairy tale feeling very well and the characters are neatly drawn. That also adds a lot to their likeability.

What can be improved:

  • I was a bit surprised when the first minigame would not end since playing the mini game I forgot to read the text saying that I could actually just click it away ^^. However, to spice the game up a bit one could add some hearts to fill up the life bar again - even if the life bar does not matter at all ^^. Maybe after a while there could be some branches in the water that the player can cling to to end the game, that would be nice.

I really enjoyed that game! Thanks for submitting it :)

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback and I'm glad you had a good time! I'm definitely going to diagnose and patch the bugs associated with the minigame as well as improve object placement so they don't overlap so much. Probably won't do much to drastically change them, but you never know, there could be a Frog Sequel! at some point.... xD

Cute concept! I really liked the idea of filming an actual book and putting the story on top of it. Good job!

Thanks! I agree the minigames could use some work--I ran out of time and energy toward the end there lol.

So so so amusing the whole time. The hand drawn feel is always great, but the hand-turned pages are even more satisfying in this here Frog story!
Fav parts:
The long trade quest poking fun at itself in multiple ways, especially "please don't say Ribbit"
The drawings of the frog characters are so fitting and swell.
That soundtrack bops, especially the humming signaling something exciting happening.

Bravo!
