Okay, so I want to lay down my main criticism with this game first: the interactive side of this brings very little to the table. You get two splitting dialogue choices that don't have different results in dialogue. For lack of a better term, I think this is... kind of lame. It feels more like a literature piece where turning the page involves clicking buttons and less like a piece of interactive storytelling.
That being said, that doesn't change the fact that the prose here is great. It's fantastic, even. The way that the narrator's thoughts bounce back and forth from the benefits to the burdens of their decision is a solid dynamic that kept me engaged in reading the text. In addition, seeing that your main goal with this was to "set-up a project using Inky," something that you say will help you in making more software in the future, I can't hold my main gripe against this game too much.
I look forward to seeing how your writing manifests in future projects
Definitely a subject that hits close to home for me. I think videogames are a medium uniquely suited to exploring themes of loneliness or solitude. The imagery conveys both sides of the coin well.
It'd be cool to see the competing inner thoughts depicted as separate internal characters, Disco Elysium style. I'm also curious about the specifics of this character's past, it would be cool to see this explored in more than just abstract terms and more with sensory detail, memories, etc.
Hey, thanks for taking the time to comment. I agree, some flashbacks/additional information might be nice. I haven't figured out yet how I could include that coding wise...was happy already that I got the text system embedded haha. I will look at the reference you've Made to Disco Elysium as I haven't heared about it...will also check your submission later today!

I like the snow filter and the regular background sound.
But I was hoping that each response would trigger a different reaction, which it doesn't. Is it really a game?
