Short and simple, but very stylish. Reminds me a lot of Kid Icarus, with the wrapping and one-way scrolling. The art style is appealing and well-executed. The movement is smooth, and I like the level design; the turrets blend in really well with the scenery in a good way and are easy to overlook, requiring the player to really pay attention, and there's at least one really nice puzzle requiring the wrapping mechanic. I'd be interested to see an expanded version with more content and ideas, but what's here already is really good. I also think using horizontal mirroring (aka vertical arrangement) would be an improvement, since it would allow glitch-free scrolling.

I love this! There’s a bit of garbage at the bottom of the screen, and the contrast is a bit high, but I managed to get a good full run in from start to finish. Great job!

This is wonderful.  As color is introduced in the enemy behavior it feels like a real delight contrasted with the stark backgrounds. While I would have liked to hear some music here, the music-less soundscape DOES work with the aesthetic 1-bit of the gameplay and manages to create an early arcade vibe  reminding me specifically of Atari's Firetruck. A very cool vibe to borrow from.

step 1: Spam right and left in the water
Step 2: profit

Probably my favorite game here. Super fun to play and the perfect amount of difficulty. I would enjoy seeing more levels.

Thank you for the kind words and correctly identifying the correct way to enjoy FISH with such a succinct two step program. Any ideas for additional mechanics? I'd add more to the game if there was more to do - I think FISH would get a bit 'dry' with just trap dodging and fire-extinguishing

Fantastic controls and gameplay. This is the compo game I spent the most time in of all the contenders, because the game feel is just soo good. About halfway through I got too frustrated to start from scratch tho and started using save states. Some solutions made me feel reeaal clever, which is good game design to me :)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I use save states too. Probably the 'nice' thing to do is to respawn from the last pool visited, definitely something I'll consider if I ever extend the game further

Solid game. Love the art style and the use of color to signify danger. The jump to the second puddle wasn't obvious until I realized you could hold the jump button to "stick" to the ceiling.

I don't know what to do here. I learned how to make bubbles to put out fires but I wasn't sure how to shoot downward. Some of these areas could really use checkpoints for experimentation but I ended up using save states.

You're right, there's no way to shoot down, but you need to extinguish the fire, which can only be done with a bubble...

(Shoot left so that the bubble leaves the screen, wraps to the right, and continues to hit the fire)

This game is a great entry point for anybody looking to get into speed running.  The controls are very responsive and intuitive, and the ascent is quick enough to make you want to keep trying to improve your time.

I love it! Charming and addictive. Excellent 1-bit pixel art on showcase here. I especially like the subtle animation for the water.

Really nice game! I liked how if you jump up against the corner of a tile next to a gap, you would still slide upwards, making the game feel more forgiving.

nice! Difficult (for me) but unique! Would like to see more sealife charactersin there too. also color blue ! Very cool.

can't agree on making it blue, but adding more characters into the environment is a lovely idea
