Controls are a little tough to get used to. The main character is so tiny I wish it were just a tad easier to see. Beautiful looking visuals. Such a challenge to play.
I really like the atmosphere of this game - the long shadows and changing colors and the strange music make me think of a dream-themed level in an old platformer.
Other people have mentioned the start of the game (with the white screen) being confusing, but I think my other critique is that, towards the end of the level, the scale has changed so much that it's impossible to see our sprite (we have to guess our position by looking at the shadow), and the platforming feels several times floatier than the already-floaty beginning.
Hey thanks for playing! I really appreciate you taking the time to leave your thoughts! There’s a common theme between the opening and the end, it doesn’t feel good to play. In trying to invoke some wonder I think I lost the player experience along the way, food for thought next time!!
That's the trouble with making something experimental - it doesn't work all of the time. I think it was still definitely worth making and playing, and I think you have great ideas here, so I would love to see what you do next time around!
The expanding mechanic is interesting and innovative. As another commenter said, I found it confusing at the beginning when the game didn’t seem to react to any inputs.
Thank you so much! I’m glad that you enjoyed it, that opening moment really turned into a huge oversight. The lights changing directions was a last minute addition, it messed up that initial set dressing though!
the completely white screen at the start of the game is really very annoying. I spent 2 minutes testing inputs to see if it produced anything but I didn't even know if my character was moving forward or not. Other than that it was pretty nice.
Hey thanks for playing! I really appreciate the input, I wanted it to be a dramatic and sort of confusing moment, but I never want players to feel lost. Would a more obvious visual difference between the player and background at the start have helped?
maybe an animation when you move like you jump, it's ok ^^
