This is a very fun and addicting game! I kept playing to see how the character sprite changes, that's such a cool concept! Really enjoyed playing it :D
Really enjoyed this game! It also got a few laughs out of me with the different sprites for the character and the sound effects!
Wow thanks man! We're stoked that you liked it, we're big fans of your game and its chill vibe also! :D
The game's really fun to play and has great replayablity. I played it for around 10 minutes, but couldn't get more than 70 score :(
70 is a good score! I die a lot around 50 - 70, so getting to 80 isn't a walk in the park :D
And thanks for the kind words, it means a lot to us!
A nice experience and really showcases what a good represented highscore system can do for a game. I do wish that the jump was more of a max jump each time instead of having to hold it to get, but at the same time it does add to the difficulty, I just prefer that it is not some slight slowness to the controls that does it. But very engaging.
We are very pleased to hear that the highscore system has the intended effect, haha. The movement mechanics turned out a lot trickier, design-wise, than we anticipated I think. We actually started out with a fixed jump height, but decided that having a variable jump height worked better. Generally, the feedback we’ve gotten has been equally for and against it, and even touched on some nice details (coyote time, input buffering) that we’ve only considered briefly, or not at all. Thanks for the feedback, and we’re glad you liked the game. :)
Yea, movement systems are one of the toughest things to do in a platformer and can take weeks to develop.
What have you done... I can't stop playing.. please send help.
But to be serious this might be my favorite game at this jam, it might be barebone, but in a good way. And I constantly tried to see how old I could get.
Im happy you're saying that, because we felt the same. We know we made a very minimalist game, but we hoped the gameplay loop and the added spice on top would keep people playing! What was your highscore? We worried a lot that the game would be too hard or easy for people, curious to hear what you think :D
To be honest I think you guys nailed the difficulty spikes. My teammates and I had a hard time getting past the 80th, which I think is pretty accurate to real life ;-)
I got to 102 btw :-D
*105 XD
haha thats perfect! We were worried about the difficulty, but we also think we somewhat nailed it. Also its definitely possible to get very very far, but requires a lot of practice, like one of our devs have haha :D
I got kinda hooked on playing this to be honest! Looks great, and having the score represented through aging was a cool incentive to keep getting a higher score.
Haha, thanks so much! To be honest, we got quite addicted to it as well, while developing... Marcus from our team got a highscore of 181, its really insane! Whats your highscore? :D Thanks so much, this comment means a lot!
Cool concept!
