I love how the game looks. I think you did an amazing job making a Warcraft-like RTS game wtih those assets. Not many prefer to make an RTS game in a gamejam since it's a more difficult genre to make so hats off for you decision. If you could have added constructions mechanic too, it would be one step closer to a full fledged RTS but it's still a great effort for a game jam. I hope you can turn this into a full game in the future. Best of luck!!
It's my first time participating in a one-month online game jam, and I underestimated the complexity of this genre. This game still needs a lot of balance adjustments and polish. Anyway, thank you for your comment. It truly motivates me to continue making games in the future.
Hey there.
I seem to be encountering a bug that makes the game unplayable: once I move up, I can't move back down using the cursor.
Yes, it has to do with resolutions on certain PCs. Please try this solution when you have some time.https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vqUboig-3gPaRdsPnSbY7MrenuqZ-WW9/view
Hmm, that didn't seem to work either. When I have the time, I'll pull out my old laptop and see if it'll work on there.
Thank you for letting me know. I should have tested on different PCs. Still, thank you for being patient!
Sorry for the late reply.
Unfortunately, when I ran it on my old laptop, the screen was heavily zoomed in.
Thanks for trying many times. Looks like I must take this screen issue very very seriously when I make the full game in the future.
I have a video that can show you what the game is like if you are still interested in.
No problem.
The game looks super fun, I'm looking forward to trying the finished game.
I honestly think this game would be awesome as a small indie release game! Maybe some additional characters. A bit more of a tutorial. Still, I really did like this game!
As it is, I feel it may be a bit unbalanced in the cost of units vs. the damage you take from even the weakest enemies… or, I might just suck as a gamer. One of those two.
I like the idea of combining units for a special skill, but I really didn’t understand the few skills I managed to use. The chain lighting, to me, didn’t really seem to do that much damage, and the skill when combining the swordsman and archer… never quite figured out what it even did. I’m sure most of that is just jam time constraints and all.
I also kinda wish there was a way to save buildings that were damaged but not yet destroyed. Maybe something that could be done between waves. Spawn a bucket brigade from the church perhaps?
The controls felt great. The character movements were really smooth and intuitive! Over all, excellent game!!
If your interested in seeing some internet rando suck at playing your game, I recently did a live stream of me playing.
Thank you for the suggestions. I agree! You are a good gamer, and I could have included tutorials and improved the game's balance. I am actually considering releasing it as a full game. I believe the main mechanic has great potential and can be used for more than just defending a town. Once again, thank you for playing!
I enjoyed the concept of the game a lot. I do with there was a way for the camera to quickly swap between you units but this was very unique and enjoyable. Great work!
Agree! I also find it difficult to swap between units. Thank you for your feedback.
Download the game from this link if the UI is malfunctioning on your computer. This is due to a bug that I was unable to fix before the final submission. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vqUboig-3gPaRdsPnSbY7MrenuqZ-WW9/view?usp=shari...
Here is a tutorial-style playthrough. If you don't want to spend too much time playing, you can simply watch this video to get an idea of what the game is like.
The quality of this game is exceptional! I had a blast playing it, especially with the retro-style sound effects which I really enjoyed.
Glad you like it!
