Message from the artist
My submission for the OST Composing Jam [Sandbox], where the theme is Palindrome.

Recently I've been listening to a lot of The Beatles, and I thought the theme of this jam would be the perfect excuse to try to emulate some of their later psychedelic sound. You might also notice some Joy Division influence in there as well, I've been listening to them a lot too.

A lot of the creation of this song was spent reversing and stretching different samples (mostly from freesound.com or made myself by flattening tracks in Ableton).

The song itself is a palindrome (you can reverse it and it will sound the same).

I think this song would work in some really trippy puzzle game or RPG, maybe along the lines of Hylics.

Hope you enjoy!

I like the atmosphere and the slow build. When the drums come in it feels a great signal to bring on at the onset of game play or after the first puzzle is solved. Good work!

Thank you, that's a good idea!

Yes, very psychedelic, very Beatles. Extremely unique composition. I love this.

Thank you so much :)

This has such a cool vibe! The three note descending bassline really did send me back to The Beatles, and it just keeps getting better as more voices join in.

Thank you, glad you liked it :)

This reminded me a lot of the original fire temple theme from Ocarina of Time with the drums and the choir parts and the overall creepy vibe it gave me.

If there's one thing that stood out as off to me  it would be the reverse drums since they sounded a little weird but I also think it gave the second half a different vibe so it wasn't all off.

Overall it was very well put together and nice to listen to.

Developer

Thank you! I agree with you, the reverse drums do sound a bit off. I thought they might give the second half a weirder feeling, like the listener is descending into madness or a drug trip or something. Maybe they just sound a bit rubbish though.

To be honest, I was really happy with how the drums sounded in the first half, and I just reversed it and hoped for the best. Maybe I should have just ended the song before it repeats in reverse.

Really great comp here, the instrumentals are fantastic as is the mixing and effects work.

Developer

Thank you, I've been working on my mixing so it's good to hear I've made some progress :)
