Thanks so much for the feedback! It's super helpful to hear more about how drums work in this genre, I was guessing for the most part haha

Loved the cowbell, could definitely have used more of it 😆great job with this one, felt a bit more chill than the original but had some great guitar so kudos there for the performance

Thank you so much for the feedback! I'm not a string player myself, so will try to keep instrument ranges in mind before they come after me next time 😅

And definitely heard on the fade out! I think I was struggling to figure out how to get it to loop, I'd want to try for something a bit smoother next time for sure

You've perfectly captured the vibe haha, this is great! I'm always happy to be rickrolled

Nice job! I think the percussion helps keep the energy going even when the melody is more static, and I also think it creates a really compelling loop. Don't want to echo everyone else too much other than that :)

I think you explored the motif in an interesting way! The harmonization at 0:30 in the higher voice is a nice touch

The panned percussion is super cool and the motif sounds great adapted to this time signature! Awesome track

Awesome work as a newcomer! The sequencing of the motif is great. As you continue making music (and I hope you do!) I'd experiment more with mixing and panning, it's a little more difficult to hear each individual voice as more come in.

The transition from the intro to the main section is a little jarring, but once it gets going it's great! I really like the staccato of the backup voices - the motif paired with those brief moments of silence has a really cool effect

Ooh, there's some really interesting harmony going on in this one. Nice job, I agree that the ending cuts off pretty sharply but there's a cool haunted castle feeling to it all

Love the title/cover image haha, and great job with the track! I love the chiptune arpeggios that come in around 0:45

The very beginning gave me Vince Guaraldi vibes, but then it gets into more of a latin feel that's very cool. I think the drums are very slightly out of time, but overall nice job!

This is awesome! Love the crackly synths in the background

This (plus the cover image haha) feels like a Dark Souls boss battle, wow! Awesome track

Ooh, I liked the harmonization of the motif a lot! The variations with the grace notes were quite cool as well. I'm aware of BeepBox but had never heard of this mod before, didn't realize it was so robust. Nice job!

The intro into the main guitars is awesome! I really liked the melody and drum fills. Great work!

Nice job! Accidentally left this looping while I did some other work, didn't mind it at all 😅

Great ambient track! Slowing down the motif and layering it the way you did was very cool

Awesome job for your first try with metal! The beginning felt like it wasn't really heading anywhere - maybe a little more harmonic variation could help with that - but I like the contrasting section leading into the end, that had a nice build up

The guitar sounds great, awesome job! This rocks 🎸

The lyrics and vocals are awesome! The bass line sounds really reminiscent of what I've heard of the soundtrack. Nice job!

This was really cool, didn't fit the vibe of the original soundtrack but the choral line plus the synths made for an interesting combination. Some of the sound effects were a little distracting/overpowering, but it made for a unique soundscape

🤘 This was awesome!

I see you mentioned the percussion timing in the description, it definitely was a bit distracting. I liked some of the riffs in the lead and the guitar coming in at 1:20 was a nice addition!

Oh this is a journey! Was not expecting that first transition haha. I really liked it though, it felt more like a soundtrack that way and it was cool to hear the motif woven through

Oh this is a journey! Was not expecting that transition to jazz haha. I really liked it though, it felt more like a soundtrack that way and it was cool to hear the motif woven through

Oooh, this is quite different from some of the others I've heard in the jam so far. The smooth jazz take on the motif is really cool, it has a bit of a Dave Brubeck feel. Awesome job!

The beginning of this is awesome, feels like Castlevania or a spooky GameBoy game. Would definitely like to have heard more voices and counterpoint to fit the style you were going with, it feels like it peters out after the opening

The synth and laidback vibe you chose complement the motif very well! I especially liked when you started varying the motif and when the faster synth came in

Nice to see some familiar "faces" :)

Thanks! Percussion is definitely one of my weaker areas, will try to go a little more wild next time :D

Ah that's entirely my bad for not reading the rules more carefully - you're right, this totally works!

Very cool that you performed it live! Gives it a more freeform feeling. A bit of a double-edged sword though, since it's not super cohesive as a song, feels more like different experiments/ideas

The guitar sounds great, I might end up stealing some of these VSTs 👀 it's a great loop too. I think it loses a little energy without the bass around 0:35, but nice job overall!

I really like this! It's a little more lowkey than the original, but I think it's really evocative and works super well as a character theme. The combination of the guitars and synth/chippy sounds is nice

This is a great idea and I wish I had had it first before I tried to make a metal track 😅

Obviously doesn't work from an objective credibility standpoint, but I love the energy and it feels like it matches the upbeat vibe of the original track. Nice job!

Nice job! I like the Kashmir vibe at the beginning.

This jam is also my first time making a metal track, so can't give too much help there. But I'd say some things that could probably help are a crunchier bass (maybe the distortion that cjee mentioned) and some more dynamic changes (the drum fills are great but it doesn't feel like the song is aiming for any particular point)

Love the intro and sweep into the main theme, reminds me of The Messenger soundtrack. I think you could be a little more creative with the motif throughout the song, since the rhythm gets a little repetitive after a while, but that's just personal preference on my part - a great track overall! The percussion break slaps too

Can definitely hear what you mean about needing the right samples 😅this rocks! Feels like a super natural inclusion in the existing soundtrack. I especially love the contrast with the acoustic guitar at 1min

Thanks so much! Will definitely look into overdrive and saturation the next time I try something like this. If you have any suggestions for guitar/drum samples would be curious 👀
