Description
The genre of the soundtrack is a slightly more modern take on chiptune music, with retro-sounding melodies but more current instrumentation.

Each track represents one of the two heroes in the game (the blue and red guys from the image). When their paths separate, they experience the same journey in two different ways, represented by each track.

Theme

a journey to remember.
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The two heroes from the picture take separate paths into the mountains, each represented by a track in the OST. Although their journeys are the same, each hero has a different outlook as they go along.

The red hero is full of excitement and joy to be going out on his own to experience the world.
The blue hero is lonely and only waits to be reunited with their friend.

Each hero remembers their journey in a different way, through the lens of their emotions.

Aw, nice tracks. I hope the lonely slime will be ok. ;;

I'm sure they will make many more friends later in their journey!

Which is better? Sad song or Happy song?
Both. Both are good ^_^.

So delightful!! Such a pleasing aesthetic.  "Happy Song" immediately got my head bobbing, totally involuntarily – so sweet.

Thanks, glad you found it groove-able :)

Nailed the contrast between the 2 themes! I really enjoyed the dual perspective from the 2 heroes and felt like you've done really well representing both characters in the music! Awesome work! <3

Thanks, happy you enjoyed it!

The first "dynamic music" proposed for the Jam: switchable from one character to another, and therefore from one mood to another. The presentation of the same orchestration in two styllistically opposed ways makes it possible to appreciate the compositional capacities. So I allowed myself to test the passage from one to the other via Audacity (imagining the smooth fading): it works. Obviously, if these works had had the exact same duration, it would have been a considerable advantage in their concrete possibility of use in a game. Without forgetting that, separately, the two musics are perfectly coherent, well written and orchestrated, offering two visions the same trip for the same price! Original and possibly interactive.

I didn't really think of trying to make them the same length for the jam but I definitely agree that would make them easier to use in a game. I mostly wanted to use (almost) the same instrumentation to communicate two entirely different moods so I'm happy that came across well. Thanks for your comments!

I really liked the concept behind this one, and the the minimalistic approach to the music is wonderful, the melodies really stand out to me.

Thank you, I'm happy you liked the concept and sound!

I like the idea of having two opposing themes for each character. Your choice of sounds and instruments was really fun as well, nice work!

I spent a long time on finding good instruments, so good to hear!

I like that you worked on the emotions of the two characters, and the idea of the dividing paths (I didn't really put too much thought into that when I looked at the image myself :) ).
The music is very cute, retro, and minimalistic, but in a good way (maybe sometimes just a bit too repetitive). My final thought is that it feels more like an artistic interpretation of the image and less like a game soundtrack. But overall nice job!

I guess something about those two blob characters drew me in (probably because they are so cute). I wish I had time to make more tracks during the jam because that would I think make it feel more like a full soundtrack, so I can definitely see what you mean. Thank you for the feedback!
