- Visually great with some nice bops! Fun concept, altho I do feel like the vertical space could've been better utilized.

Tell us about your game!
In a side-scrolling city, the player will be pursued by a wave of Neurashade, the unknown volatile virus consuming all in its path. The player must navigate the city’s obstacles by jumping and dodging. Advanced movements like the ground pound and slide, alongside the multiple powerups you'll encounter will help the player survive.

Love the design... Really great work on this. Music is fun and fits well, and the gameplay is simple to learn and interesting to play. Cant wait to see more
I really liked the game and the graphics, also the intro. It was defying and it kept me retrying until I winned. I really liked some game design decisions, like the small map to show the % done or having the possibility to evade some obstacles in more than one way. Greatly done! :)
Was a fun play. Sometimes hard to dodge all the enemies or get the mouse right over the powerups, but the movement side to side was good and the double jump felt nice. Art looked great and the music was catchy without being overpowering.
Felt that there might have been to much unused verticality for the game. The double jump was good, but still only used up half the screen. Would have been cool if the rest of screen could have been used for more obstacles or platforms to jump off of.
All in all, a good game that I will take the time to complete when I have more time :)
Good job!
I'm so glad you had fun! Yes, the verticality was sadly something that had to be put aside due to time, but will be implemented in the future! Thank you so much for your feedback
Really fun game, if hard at times with having to dodge everything haha. Everything in this game comes together to make a really complete product, and the gameplay feels incredibly smooth (though the teleporting to the ground kinda felt unnecessary, I never had a reason to use it anyway I felt).
I'd say if you work on this post jam (which you should), add a volume slider because the music is very loud, and add a tutorial because there's a lot of different things to watch out for that people probably won't read the How To Play on and get.
Really solid game overall though! Didn't beat it this time but might go back and try later.
Thank you so much!! I appreciate your feedback very much, For me (I'm not very good at timing things) the teleport is a nice save, but I'm very happy to have another perspective on it! We will be working on this post-jam and will definitely be adding an options menu with a volume slider and other tweaks. The tutorial at the beginning of the game is a great idea, as not everyone learns by reading! Thank you so much again for your feedback and thoughts!!
After playing again I have a bit more feedback, the health bar feels really, really unnecessary, since the only reason I'm dying is by the one-two combo of being hit by something and then the hand slapping me. I (personally) would change the back wall to do damage instead and push the player back forwards, and get rid of healing upon new level. In my opinion that would feel more fair but I'd experiment with it.
Also I have gained a new hatred of birds, and I will be seeing low flying birds combined with traffic cones in my nightmares.
Agreed with the health bar. The one-two combo is on the fix list! Love the new idea of pushing the player. We'll try it out! I also see those birds and traffic cones in my nightmares, as much testing happened with the game. There are more terrifying things to come... Thanks again for such great feedback Nijelous!
Great game, everything fits well together! Very nice pixel-art, especially on the Neurashade :) Also love the fact that you can click on power-ups while running. Good job!
Thank you so much!!! I'm so glad that you liked the art! The mouse click is super fun to me and I'm so happy you enjoyed it as well!
Love the art, really good and high quality.
Aw geez, thank you so much!!! Your comments mean so much. I'll check out your game when I can! I loved the animation I saw when you were developing it!
Holy! The art and music is top of the line. Got myself close to difficulty six but those crawlers kept gettin me. Definitely gonna play this one when later today cuz I gotta see what's at the end. Overall super well put together and keep on pursuing, especially if this is your first game, because you guys have more than a few talents!
Oh my goodness, Thank you!!! Those crawlers are my worst enemy. I'm not quite as good as Tehryan is at the game, but those have killed me the most! I'm so glad you're enjoying it and coming back for more :)
I just started playing and, I wanna say, The music is too good. Will be back with more good things to say I'm sure :)
Aw, thank you so much!!
Cool game! The movement is very slick and fluid, especially the sliding feels great. Also quite challenging.
Thank you! I'm very happy you liked the movement, We want to add more sliding-only obstacles in the future to make that mechanic more useful!! :D
Here’s to Shade Strider and its creators, TehRyan and Setteal! Congratulations!
Setteal, I am so proud of you for taking this leap into the unknown and putting your art out there. Finishing this Shade Strider demo is an enormous accomplishment on so many levels, and I am so thrilled that you decided to compete. I saw the effort you put in, day in and day out, pulling all-nighters, collaborating with your teammate to make this fantastic game.
You have always been a capable artist, and this proves that your inner doubter is categorically wrong. Look at how many assets you made in such a short timeframe and look at how many skills you polished through your hard work! You cannot deny how much you’ve grown as an artist and game designer. Way to go!
TehRyan, I also want to validate you for your hard work and dedication to Shade Strider. Without you, it would not have been a complete game! You could not have been a better teammate for Setteal, and you clearly poured your all into this game. By playing off of each other’s strengths, you two produced something truly special and fun to play.
Ya'll have accomplished so much in the last two weeks. The passion and dedication shines through the finished product, and I believe Shade Strider’s players will see that too. This game has a healthy dose of personality and liveliness, and I can’t wait to see how you take that to the next level as this project continues to develop. You two are rockstars!
