Judge feedback

Judge feedback is anonymous.

  • Almost something interesting, but without anything to break the monotony, or any difficulty modifiers it is instead simply functional. Beautiful, but ultimately shallow.

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
El Poblet is a rhythm game inspired by Guitar Hero and Friday Night Funkin, where you have to tap the arrow keys in sync with the music, as the notes fall from the sky.

The player will help them by pressing the arrow keys in sync with the music. The better the player does, the more the Yayometer© will fill, giving power to our old people to boycott the construction. But if the player is out of tune, the Yayometer© will empty slowly, and if it fully empties, the game will be over!

While you advance, you'll see that the elderly people invade the construction to boycott it. You have to finish with a 90% or more score to win the game.

Did you remember to include your Game Design Document?
Yes

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

Extra Notes
The idea we had was to fill the screen with elderly people when you win, so it will be the other side of "it's spreading". We started working on the jam this Monday, so we didn't used all the time we had. In any case, we had fun, so thanks for the jam!

Hey! Version 1.1 is published and it will probably work better, as we did some bugfixes, including the one that tied the health loss to the Hz update rate of the screen. If you try it, let us know! The next version will probably bring a song selector, maybe with more difficulties and maybe with some new songs? Who knows? :D

Oh I man I suck at rhythm games like this. lol.  but there is a special place in my heart for them. So I tried. and I tried. and I tried. ultimately I think it would be nice for an easy mode to say the least. lol. 2HP is just not enough. lol. I'm so ashamed of myself! haha. I really want to hear the song in totality. PLEASE UPLOAD AN OST!
overall I will definitely come back to this when I'm a bit more awake because it relies so much on memorization. From what I was able to play I loved the music and the theming was really cool for the game! :D

Hey! Thank you for trying hard with our game! It seems that we are having a problem with the percentage value being in sync with the framerate (even if we took it into the account when we calculate the percentage loss, so maybe we’ll even create an issue on Godot’s issue tracker if we don’t find a reasonable explanation).

If you don’t mind for us to get some more feedback:

  • Are you using a screen that uses more than 60Hz of framerate?
  • Did you play on the web version, or the Windows version?

It’s a bit bugging, but just in case you want to try again & you’re using more framerate on your screen, try forcing your PC screen to work on 60Hz and try to play again; maybe it will get easier.

By the way, we already have in mind to add difficulty levels/songs with different difficulties, but we did not put the focus on it on the first release. For sure, if we update that, I’ll let you know asap! :)

Thanks again for playing the game and the elaborated feedback! :D Have a great day!

P.S.: The song is free-to-use and you can listen to it as many times as you want going to the game description, at the end, on the credits section. Or just clicking here. Then you’ll be humming it for a whole week as we did. xDD

I absolutely had to master it – took me several tries to get a perfect score on the Yayometer© and empower those old folks!

The music slapped, the pixel art is incredible, the game is easy to understand and play, and the attention to detail in the background (while difficult to focus on while hunting that sweet high score) was humorous and well-executed

Nice job Devrique, Eliimperio, and Jacob! You all did a thing, and you earned a fan out of me (batteries not included)! WOO HOOOO!

My partner (artist) and her teammate (programmer, musician) submitted a game called Shade Strider. It’s an “endless runner” game, similar to Dino Run, and in the same genre as Temple Run & Jetpack Joyride.

If you are interested in reviewing their addictive and charming game, it would mean a lot to me if you gave Shade Strider (by TehRyan and Setteal) a try: https://itch.io/jam/pirate/rate/2491872

Glad you enjoyed the game enough to retry until the perfect score! And I loved to read your detailed feedback, thanks a lot for it! :-)

We’ll make sure to try Shade Strider asap! If it was inspired by Dino Run, I’m sure I’ll like it, as I love that game and runners in general. Thanks agaaaain! :D
