  • Cute, quaint and fun. It's a competitive board game for two people (and currently includes local play even in this version) that encompasses the theme aesthetically and mechanically, offers genuine strategy, requires little tutorialisation before quickly becoming understandable and compelling. Music, UI and SFX are all above average and I'd love to see this one get support and grow.

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?

ESC will display all mushroom abilities.
You may swap the selected mushroom by clicking on the UI image of said mushroom.
Good luck!

The game is a strategy game themed around mushrooms and spores spreading. Each player takes turns playing mushrooms that will then spread in various patterns and effects. The winning player is the player with the most tiles before round 50. We were a team of 3. All art assets are hand drawn watercolor artworks. We then scanned them in and used GIMP to edit them into sprites. All sounds were created by voice acting and modified in Audacity. Music was created in house by using LMMS and mixing Lofi Chillhop loops. We used Caligraphr to create a Truetype font file out of hand drawn assets.

Did you remember to include your Game Design Document?
Yes

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

Extra Notes
Thank you for the awesomely fun adventure. I managed to prove to myself that a nearly market ready video game can be produced using mostly open source stuff.

Really beautiful game. Like damn. I'd play the shit out of this game. Wanna play a round with buds with this game actually. Would be cool with Remote Play on steam!

This game is super relaxing. The player-determined pace of the game, the chill music, the hand-drawn art style. It all comes together really nicely. If you develop further it might be worth adding a "cozy" mode where there's no competition, and the player can just destress and plant shrooms. Great job!

Very cool presentation, the colored pencil look is nice. The music and pace make it pretty chill, but the game feels quite deep.

My god that art is so neat! Also loved the mechanics of pieces showing up in a line, reminded me of teris in a way.

The art style reminds me of a children's fantasy book, and I really love it. It is calm and cozy.

I was a little overwhelmed with the number of mushroom types. Maybe a series of battles that focus in on a couple mushrooms at a time to give the player an idea of how to best take advantage of them.

But otherwise the game performs well and everything seems to work as expected without jank. I imagine these battles can go very deep, but I am a noob at turn-based fighting like this lol.

Great job and thank you! A very pleasant experience

This game is so chill, and I like the idea, like a twist on Reversi. Would love to see previews of the growth pattern each type of mushroom has, maybe like a fading out highlight that shows it's potential spread for the next 2 turns?

The juice and feel is so spot on.
