  • The game was fine. I think the traveling should be condensed down between platforms to avoid horizontal running as much as possible without there being obstacles. This is a very minor nitpick. I also encountered the mix shop before picking up the items. I was confused as to what I was supposed to do, not knowing I was supposed to have picked up items. Keep at it. Tune it up. Make it a little more accessible for those who are blindly playing the game, and you'll be doing just fine!

A Shadowed Trail is a short platformer about a lost soul searching for a potion which allows them to go to their final resting ground. Each level has potion ingredients that are required to brew potions which unlock new abilities which unlock new levels.

The theme of shadows is used in the art style as it is styled like a shadow box.

Controls
movement - WASD / arrow keys
Dash - Shift / Z
Leap - S / down Arrow key

Extra Notes
This is my first non-tutorial game and my first game jam.
The game was made in Godot 4.2.2

Well done! The movement mechanics were different and fun. The dash felt too snappy to begin with, but I got the hang of it. I like the sort of rustling sound effects of the player. The sound and tone of the game overall were great. Well done!

This game is really lovely. The mood is so wonderful, and the environments and foliage are so well drawn. I love that you did the art and animations yourself, it all looks terrific in that silhouette style. The platforming feels solid as well. Great game!
