- Get that old 80's drawn animation games. Movement could be tweeked a little, but other then that it's a very easy game to play. The art was good, music was clean. Very different take on the theme, but it felt more light then shadowy, Still a good take!

WASD movement, aim with mouse, and shoot with left mouse button. You are an apprentice alchemist named Merlin. There are angry monsters lurking in the shadows. You can mix potions that you find to light candles along your way. You can mix potions as you run to find the right mix to turn the angry monsters into happy monsters. There are 4 levels. You need to make 10 monsters happy in each level to win.
Extra Notes
All of the character animation was hand-animated traditionally on paper and then photographed frame by frame to bring it into the computer. The drawings were then colored in Adobe Animate.

I loved the art style for this game, I think some sound effects would do it good. But other than that I think it was a very enjoyable short experience!
Thank you for the kind words and thanks for checking out my game! If you'd like to see how I made it, I just posted a dev log on youtube:
I really like the visual style. I was afraid the mixing mechanic would be a bit daunting, but after a while it felt pretty intuitive, probably since you kept it to only three monsters. Great job!
I'm glad you liked it. Thank you! If you'd like to see how I made it, I posted my dev log to YouTube:
I really dig the vibe of this game! It does what it does, and it does it very well. My only thought regarding how it could be polished in its current state is that the health pickups seem way too plentiful considering how much damage you’d realistically be taking. It also would have been nice to see a few more challenging elements, such as hazards to avoid like enemy projectiles. Beyond that, you got it! The visuals were great, the animations were a joy to watch, and the music you picked out worked well with the vibe. Great job!
Thank you for the kind words! And thanks for the feedback. I'm totally there with you, this game was totally on easy-mode for the game jam. I've got lots of stuff I want to add to it. If you'd like to check out how I made it, here's a link to my dev log video on YouTube:
Had a blast! Amazing game, but the art direction is WOW I loved everything about this game, except it alacks a bit of feedback when I shoot or get hit. But these are easy fixes. Congratz.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for playing. I hear ya. I want to do a lot of zany sound effects, I just ran out of time. If you'd like to check out how I made this game, I just posted a dev log on YouTube:
Cute game!

I had a lot of fun with this one! Your game has a lot of great vibes. The soundtrack and art are fantastic and remind me of Ed, Edd n Eddy. The gameplay was smooth and intuitive, but a "hard" mode could be a good addition. Mobs could shoot back at you maybe. Anyway, I would love to see more content added in the future. Great job!
Haha! Ed, Edd n Eddy! I love it. Thank you! I definitely want to add some more enemies and some more peril for the main player. Thanks for playing! If you'd like to check out how I made my game, I just posted a dev log on YouTube:
Holy smokes, this was so fun! The animation was so good and I can't believe it was all hand-animated. Very very smooth and the art style reminded me of 90s-2000s cartoons.
The gameplay was really fun and I even went back into levels to replay them to get all 3 stars. I really liked how even when I didn't get all 10 monsters in the level, I could still pass. That really helped me keep going and I eventually 3 starred all levels!
The music was top-notch! Could've used some sound effects too but overall very catchy.
Controls were very intuitive and I felt like I was playing a full fledged game already. Very great job!!
Thank you! I was totally going for 1990s animation style, so I'm glad you caught that! If you'd like to check out how I made my game, I just posted a dev log on YouTube:
Cool, I'll check it out!! Great job! :
Animations and music are great. My feedback is pretty much just a combination of what others have said, but great work! Love the art style! Well done

Really cool hand drawn animations ! I like the gameplay and how simple it is to pick up, but i do agree that the game is too easy currently. I think making the player have to continually pick up potions to shoot instead of just pressing Q and E to change potions could make the game more interesting and a bit more challenging. I also think that there could be more indicators on the enemies for which potion you should shoot to make them happy. For example, the eye color could match the potion combination you need just like how the pineapple monster is currently. Overall though, great job on the game !
Thank you for the kind words and thanks for playing! I totally agree about the difficulty. I want to add some more enemies and some more perils for the main player. I appreciate all the feedback. If you'd like to check out my game, I posted a dev log video on YouTube just now:
This was a cute little game and seeing as they were hand-drawn, I'm really impressed. I felt like the mixtures were easy to pick up, but maybe that was just me. One thing that stuck out to me was the fuck that once angry monsters were turned into happy ones, they could still inflict damage on the player. Other than that, I had a blast running around blasting things with potions. Well done!
I'm glad you liked my game! I've got lots more things I want to add to it and fix. If you'd like to see how I made my game, you can check out the dev log I just posted on YouTube:
Hand draw animations for the jam, wow! I agree with others have already set, the candles didn't seem necessary. Also the potions being infinite just let me mix and match them together by spamming the Q and E keys till I got the right mixture. Music was on point, art on point, maybe some more SFX to add some juice to the game would be all it really needs beyond a slight rework of the candles. Great entry!
Haha! Thank you for your kind words and your feedback! I'll probably rework a few of the mechanics and add lots more monsters and perils for the player. If you'd like to see how I made my game I just posted a dev log on YouTube:
Played the game, then played it again, the main theme sounds good and the artwork is super nice, and as I can see all done by hand so even more fantastic!
I had a great time playing and surely wold like to see more games done like this one! GG
Haha! Thanks for playing my game, and then playing it again! If you'd like to see how I made my game, I just posted a dev log to YouTube:
Cool take on the theme and design preparing the player to bring together all of the mechanics on the final level. Nice job!

Nice little game, doing all the animation hand drawn on paper is an impressive idea for a game jam. I think the game was a little easy overall, and to me the candle mechanic was a bit unnecessary, as you can tell if a monster is angry by if they chase you or not, so you don't really need to use the candles. Other than that, cool game!
Thank you for playing! and thank you for your feedback! For sure the game is in easy mode right now. Hopefully in the future the monsters will have some more complex movement systems and the candles will be more useful. Charming hand-drawn art, and fun gameplay!
I like how you have to manage keeping the light on. You can kinda tell when they're chasing after you, but its not certain to the player. I like that. It also made me feel good to know that just because I didn't get all 10 monsters, I didn't necessarily lose the level and could continue anyways.
I felt like I was fumbling around a lot with trying to get the right combo of potions (and remembering which combo does what), hoping to see the right color appear. I also felt like I struggled to remember which spell should be used on which monster. Since the colors popped mostly popped out to me at first, all I could remember was: purple sunglasses pineapple = purple spell, red rock thing = green spell, and then fire to melt the ice monsters.
also rad music choice :sunglasses
I'm really glad you enjoyed my game! Thank you for the kind words. I think in a future version of the game, I'll be able to take more time to explain each spell in a tutorial. If you'd like to check out how I made my game, I just posted a dev log to YouTube:
Simple yet charming game.
It is so awesome to see hand drown animations! (I know how hard it is to even make a simple run cycle)
I really like how you introduced the player to different mixes one at the time (also symbols and colors of the candles!)
You have made a really good choice selecting music for each level, they felt really fitting.
Although I miss few important sfx like shoot.
Overall a good entry!
Thank you so much! I hear ya about the sound effects. I want to make a bunch of zany SFX in future versions of this game. If you'd like to see how I made my game, I just posted a dev log to YouTube:
Such lighthearted fun! Hand drawn animations add so much soul and personality to everything, even the monsters are so cute, you want to make them all happy! Music fits perfectly to the overall mood. What a lovely entry, very well done!

Nice Game and nice Choice regarding the music pack! Concept also is interesting - for me there is nothing to critisize. :)
